Mhmmm.... what was up with that eppy??

I loved the idea, loved that we got so many Jack and Ianto scenes (and Ianto saved the day FTW!!), those circus people were really scary BUT there were some really, really weird cuts and it almost felt like they showed just some rough cut with scenes still missing. :34853_huh:

Maybe I was too tired to get it but how was the scene at the beginning with the little girl and her mother (? older sister?) connected to the rest of the eppy? Okay, the kid accepted the ticket to the show and was sucked into the show and then suddenly everything was gone and that woman was left behind alone. It sure looked cool but who was the woman and the little girl? Did we ever see them again? Why was it important that the girl accepted the ticket? Later we saw that the circus people took people whether or not they accepted the ticket by taking away their last breath. And their bodies were left behind, only paralyzed.

Was that ever explained? It was like at an early writing stage they wanted to go with the ticket idea (Last Action Hero?) and then they decided, no the breath thing is cooler, but parts of the early draft still made it into the eppy but just didn't make sense anymore?

Then the whole final scene in the cinema... Owen is confronted with the creepy circus guy, creepy circus guy runs away and is suddenly chased by Ianto and Gwen?? When did that happen?? You'd usually get a scene where the chase starts... :34853_huh:

Then Ianto corners creepy guy, flask flies through the air and the last breathes are set free... and that was bad? I was confused for a moment there because I thought that was exactly what they wanted... :34853_huh: Guess I was wrong there since all but that little boy died. :34853_huh:
And then... why did the circus people hide some of their victims in that pool house thingy and left some of them behind?? :34853_huh:

Interesting part of the story: Jack was sent to investigate the circus people (btw did that Mermaid woman recognize him in the cinema? There was one veeeeery long look towards him and it didn't look like she recognized the danger, or felt threatened by being filmed).
Sent by who?
He avoided the answer by saying "long story" so it couldn't have been Torchwood (or UNIT) because Ianto knows about both, so no (big) explanations needed.
Time Agency? Unlikely, since he was the "man that can't die" already, so this was post- Satellite 5, post his time at the Time Agency.
The Doctor? Again... post Satellite 5 and Ianto knows about the Doctor...

Color me confused.... :34853_huh: :34853_huh: :34853_huh: :34853_huh:

(but also truly deeply madly in love with that Welsh teaboy  who looked just STELLAR last night!!)

yeah this one was a bit rubbish. :(

Actually though that is a GOOD thing, because it means have gotten a weak episode out of the way!

Now the final three eps can KICK ***! :)

see, i told you so. :p OTOH, perhaps was supposed to mimic the splicing of the old film. :71:

the little girl was the old woman they interviewed. she talked about running away so fast and hiding. and how when she came out, people had disappeared from her village.

as for the rest...no idea.

okay, 'fes up...you were too busy staring at Owen's HUGE mouth and forgot to notice the start of the chase. :71: here is what happened. Owen is upstairs. creepy guy tries to take his breath, he runs downstairs. Gwen and Ianto are in the lobby and creepy guy runs past them. Ianto grabs the flask and runs. followed by the crack! Torchwood team of Jack and Gwen. they seem to have left the deadguy! Owen back at the theatre. i think. i dont remember.

Then Ianto corners creepy guy, flask flies through the air and the last breathes are set free... and that was bad? I was confused for a moment there because I thought that was exactly what they wanted... Guess I was wrong there since all but that little boy died.

it finally occurred to me what happened when that guy touched Ianto...for a second i was all "wow, teaboy is sure whiny today". :71: but since they were like the film, which is made up of toxic/caustic liquids, it really was that creepy guy was "burning" Ianto, therefore the whining...i mean whincing at the pain.

no, i dont think the woman recognized him. i think it was just "oh frak" he is filming us. i have to wonder why Jack didn't bother to tell the tale to Ianto. lack of time or lack of any idea who could have sent him by the writers. :71: here is a weird thought. what if he was STILL with the Time Agency at the time and he was pulling a trick on the people by using his "space hopper" wristband? made it look like he was shot but really he was just being momentarily transported and back. yeah i got nothing. :undecide:

(but also truly deeply madly in love with that Welsh teaboy  who looked just STELLAR last night!!)
after this eppy, really who isn't? :71: they keep dressing him in those suits and maroon shirts and lighting him so very nicely. i just hope this doesn't mean they are setting him up to BE the red shirt OR they are setting him up to take over for other reasons i won't mention here. :p

one can hope. though isn't next week's a Jack light eppy? with only 3 left, i HOPE NOT!!! :eek2: i need all the characters to be present. Random shoes was an interesting eppy but really i WANT JACK!!!

OTOH, if it means that these next 3 eppys are so kicking, i better get the tissues and lots of chocolate. ISTR that RTD likes to rip our hearts out just to make sure we are human or something. :eek2:

Also re-watched this eppy last week (and it works a lot better if you don't pay attention to details because you're chatting with other people while watching it ;) ).

Two questions:

The little boy they saved at the end... was he played by the same kid who played Frederic Jackson in the Next Doctor? I think they mentioned something in the Confidential for The Next Doctor but I'm not sure.

I remember people thought it was weird that Ianto reacted so super emotional and cried when they managed to save the little boy. I think this makes a lot more sense now after what we've learned in CoE. (Putting this behind spoiler tags just to be on the safe side) The boy probably reminded him on his own niece and nephew Okay, this wasn't really a question, more an observation. :71:
