I noticed this in Homecoming when Claire thought everyone was staring at her, but it really stuck out to me at the end of DEM. when Jack is calling for Locke, the camera switches to some redshirts, two couples, staring at Jack in this really odd way. The way that they reacted to Jack calling for Locke was really odd to me, as if they were afraid of him or something. i was just wondering what everyone else thought of this.

maybe those looks were bewildered because it was a shock to see one of the fellow survivors coming back all crippled and bloody

there were those weird looks, but it seemed mostly that people were trying to catch a glimpse or a small info that would tell them what is going on inside the "ER" so to speak

if you ever seen the crowd that will form around a car crash scene, you'll know how people look and what they would do to get some "info" or catch a creepy glimpse of a bloodied person ... (no wonder survivors and reality show are such hits)

maybe you're right, but there have been other instances of non-original-14's acting strange that i can't think of right now.

Hmm... I can't say I noticed anything abnormal, for the situation that is (like tarf said).

I thinki ti's the lookie-loo theory of car crashes. The worse it looks, the more we slow down to look. The background "red shirts" are curious about what is going on around them. The pregnant girl goes missing and is returned only to have no recollection? Boone who has gone out into the woods for days to look for boar and has come back empty handed is bloody (especially after Sawyer hunted the one down in his epi)? Things are weird on that island and people want answers. They're not a huge part of the storyline (yet) like Kate helping and Jack doctoring but they are there for support/help/to see what is happening.
