View Full Version : Post your DI#s. Why not?

So if you're brave enough, go ahead and post your numbers...it doesn't look to me like they can be used to access your game account. Now, whether the DI will be upset or not ;) not for me to say. If you remember anything about when you registered, post that too -- I am going to have to review my posts to find when I did. Not sure if it will be practical to paste them all in this post, I'll look and see how the data looks. :)

Hmm...there does seem to be a general pattern in the numbers. We all have 8450 to start, and someone in the other thread said the Comic con ones started with 745, right? I ordered them, and looked at a few of our posts on the thread when the test first came out, and it does appear that Jezz, Bonie, Guinevere, and I all tested within around 30-45 min. of each other. Trixired's two registrations vary only in the last four numbers, and my second registration has the highest number so far. BUT, I am still skeptical about the number of digits -- I bet a lot of people are playing, but considering that message board posters are a percentage of viewers, and game players are probably a smaller percentage, millions registering within that period of time just does not sound right to me. ISTR that during the glyphs phase of TLE, there were registration numbers available at some point, but I just don't recall how many there were.

If I had to guess at this point, I'd go with 8450-#####-??, with the # being your number in registration, maybe didn't start at 0 because of Comic Con...and the last two digits being something else. Again, I have absolutely nothing to support that other than the apparent ordering based on time, and my assumption that we should be seeing tens of thousands of registrations in that period, not millions.

All the numbers that I have seen posted on this sight and other sights have 845 0xxx 5xxx .

hmm...NBC, right about the 5 also.
Now the question of whether that's a meaningless check digit or what...Trixired's #s seem to indicate that the last three digits do keep going up, so perhaps the six "rolling digits" indicate the # of players? I don't know where everyone is located but so far it just seems to be associated with the time/date the test was taken.

EdMuse

I was going to post my number, but I see you already got me! My first post in the "Week 1ish" thread was 07-29-2008 at 11:04 AM, and I remarked that my registration was uploading, so you should be able to put that as my registration time and date.

ISTR that during the glyphs phase of TLE, there were registration numbers available at some point, but I just don't recall how many there were.My recollection is that those registration numbers were just sequential by registration date, and that there were somewhat over 40,000 of us. I think they really wanted us all to know, in that instance, though, how many of us there were. Sort of a "large group of siparate individuals working toward the same goal" feeling being advanced. Here, they just want it to look like a number.

Well, as NBCulleeney mentioned, there's a 5 in the middle that seems constant (so far) for everyone. Remove the 8450 prefix and that 5, and we're down to six digits. You know how, when you get a checking account, your bank never makes your first set of checks start at 0001, since nobody wants low number checks? Maybe they've done something like that. Perhaps we've got the constant 845 0xxx 5xxx, then, another one or two of the remaining digits are randomly generated, leaving four or five digits to be a sequential registration number.

Another idea could be based on the date codes on some food products. Sometimes, when they don't really want you to know just when the stuff was made and packaged, they give it a date code instead of just an actual date. The date is run through some sort of encoder that renders it unrecognizable to anyone who doesn't have the key to decode it. So perhaps the four digits after 845 represent the registration date, then there's a 5, and the next three digits are sequential for that date. We'd have to have a lot more registration numbers to figure that out, though, since we'd have to see several from the same date.

Then again, Carencey, you and and I both registered on 7/29, and our numbers are compeltely different, so I guess that cans that idea.
100%

Carencey: 84505695973 (7/29 approx 1 AM ET)
EdMuse42: 84507805306 (7/29 approx 11 AM ET)

...without those constant digits, you get...

Carencey: 569973
EdMuse: 780306

Not only do these numbers seem high to me for the number of people I figure must be playing (I would put it in the tens of thousands, not the hundreds of thousands, but that's a guess based on the number of people who played TLE), I can't imagine they got 120,000 more registrants in the ten hours between our registration times. Gotta be something more to it.

Carencey
08-20-2008, 11:26 AM
yeah, I agree, still at least a factor of 10 higher than seems believable to me over that period of time, especially considering that a lot of people couldn't access the site then. For now, I think I'll just spreadsheet them a few different ways, and hopefully something will shake out later, we're still working with a pretty small sample size. I should have started collecting them from the beginning, but was rather busy that week, lol. This one is a bit easier to set up multiple registrations on than the other was -- or perhaps it's fairer to say there is more reason to set up multiples, maintaining multiples during the glyph part of TLE would have been a royal pain!
Liplocked and uzumaki, yours are the lowest I've seen so far -- did you guys test right when it opened?

I wish that having the right DI# means winning the Mega Millions Lotto jackpot. ;) Or maybe a survivor seat on Flight 815...

Can't post my DI# because I wasn't able to log in today, although I was able to take "Test 1" (the spatial one) twice. As someone else said, I thought we had already taken the first test (the varied and quite interesting multiple choice questions), and that "volunteer assessment" was going to commence soon.

Re the animated DHARMA logo...test spoiler:I can see how it foreshadowed the nature of official "Test 1"...the animated logo has moving puzzle pieces that go into their slots, and in Test 1, we are to move pieces into their slots. Both of which are very similar to how TPTB (specifically Darlton) have said that LOST is a puzzle (or mosaic, take your pick of quotes), and we haven't been given all the puzzle pieces yet. (now how's that for a run-on sentence?) Maybe it's "just" a theme, or maybe this new ARG is ingenuous.

Like I posted on another thread for this ARG, it would be kinda but not really cool if the waiting game (of this ARG) was aping not only the time anomalies and slow-moving subplots of the show, but the oh so very cruelly imposed hiatuses (hiatii?) between the show's seasons.

Somebody needs to hire me for the spin team... ;)

Just to get a more accurate idea of when it was time wise (not that we seem to be able to figure out this pattern, if there even is one anyways ) I checked to see my first post in the week 1sh thread and as of 12:15 am 7/29 I had taken the test, so it was prob. midnight ish.

The only possibilities I can think of is that the numbers are a counter but go up by a certain increment with each additional person instead of just going up by one. Just to be difficult and make us go crazy(er) Or maybe if you registered on OGR as well with the same e-mail the two databases are somehow combined and counted together (ie if you registered at both your OGR time of registration counts on the counter since it was earlier, however if you just registered at Dharma it counts...)

sgtdraino: 845 0284 5515: Brick Layer

A blast from the past! I'd like to build, as comprehensively as possible, a database of all Dharma Initiative members recruited during the 2008 dharmawantsyou.com recruiting drive. From as many folks as possible, I would like:

Name (or username): Recruit Number: Work Assignment.

For example, my information is as follows:

Sergeant Draino: 845 0284 5515: Brick Layer

Much appreciation to anyone who can locate this information, and/or provide their own information! You can reach me at:

sgtdraino@gmail.com

Thank you, namaste, and good luck.

ETA: For those of you who registered with multiple accounts, please choose the one you think of as the "real" you.

Additionally, please let me know if you have saved any portion of the dharmawantsyou.com website. We are potentially looking to relaunch it.

Wow, extensive! No, wasn't aware of that one either. In the process of registering now. I don't see any threads that leap out and scream "ID numbers and usernames here!" so I'll probably post a request and hope somebody sees it.

Incidentally, I have now tried to go directly to the source: I sent an email to Hoodlum, the company that made dharmawantsyou and find 815. We'll see if I get a response!
