We know that main people have left the island (Jack, Kate, Hurley, Sayid, Ben) but will Lost Season 5 take place mostly off the island? I hope not, one of te reasons why I lie Lost better than some other mystery show is beacuse of the island. Lets face it, the island is now a character. I hope that we will still see plenty of sawyer and locke(alive on the island, and not dead in a cofin) After all these years I hope I dont get disapointed.

I voted "mostly on the island" but that's more of a hopeful response than a prediction. I really hope they don't stray too far from what has made this show so enjoyable and successful.

I took the choice closest to what I really think, which is that as the show progresses thru these final seasons, the island will be seen less & less of. Apparently they are "going back", but they'll probably take care of that in less screen time than has been required for most island action, and season 6 will show little or no "new" island action, but may show us quite a bit of flashback-to-the-island scenes -- things we've seen before, but with added details.

Plenty of Island in Season 5.

My take on things.
The off-Island story is almost straight forward. "We have to go back!!"
I think they'll be spinning wheels to make it interesting enough.
The one disadvantage of flash forwards is spoiling some of that suspense.

The great stuff is still on the Island. John Locke is still on the Island. 1/3 of their "love triangle" is still on the Island. All of the important history is still on the Island. Richard Alpert, the gorgeous Juliet, the mad professor Faraday, there is plenty of story here.

They'll be telling the story, IMO, from at least 3 periods of time. 2 of which are on the Island.
The Island's past and it's recent future (according to the viewer).

If they aren't going to make many filler episodes and with only 34 left, you wouldn't think they would want to, then they need to get to telling some back history.

The only reason to introduce time travel is tell to tell a story 'out of time'.
They don't need the device for the O6 + Desmond, Ben, Frank etc.

So, I am voting for #1. Because I think the O6 will get back to the Island relatively 'soon'.

I think well get a mix. We'll probably see Jack trying to convince the Six to go back, mixed with the 'bad things' on island.

Plus:
In Darkufo's spoilers, he's had filming reports for stuff thats clearly on island with island characters, but also reports featuring off island events with Ben, Des and Penny, and the Six.

The whole show centers on the island, so I don't think they can just retain it's contract for season six (ala Emile De Ravin). The off island characters are all abou the island. From the 06, to Widmore, to Des and Penny and Ben. It'll be the unifying element for the season I think. If it's not featured in an episode, it will be talked about by someone.

Unless Damon and Carlton find a way around the statement "season five is about why they have to go back to the island, and season six is what happens when they get there", then we should be getting an island-centric season. With answers that fall like food pallets from the sky. Enough to sustain us for the next six month break.

i voted for half and half....or at least i'm hoping.

i think that it will take several episodes for them to get all of the o6 together and then move on. but i could totally see them taking all season to get to the island. it can't be something done overnight.

i'm hoping that they will go back and forth. but knowing the writers, they'll want us surprised on why locke said the island was in trouble. plus we would know right away who survived and who didn't.

see, i can't even make up my mind because they're not typical writers. i'm just hoping to find out about the losties on the island sooner than later:undecide:.

If there is one thing we can be sure of, it's that the writer's know how to balance their creative needs with what the fans want to see. A lot of the hardcore fans want to know more about the history of the island and the Dharma Initiative and that can only be told through the on-island events IMO. It's also important for them to move the off-island story forward by focusing on the exploits of the O6 and the others. One thing we know from last season is that they know what is going on and they are on a roll right now so I'm not worried about it very much. I forecast this upcoming season as one of the best because they haven't been interrupted by a strike and they are on an emotional high after getting such rave reviews for last season. What I'm really curious about is how they're going to connect the Island stories with the mainland stories.

I voted both places, (Past, Present & Future) there is still a whole lot of story to be told from both places.
I'm hoping the opening scene of S5E1 is the Black Rock in a storm, W/Richard at the helm.

You must be kidding. The story of how Jeremy Bentham died must be huge. The rest of season 4's flashforward material raises enormous questions too.

I voted 50/50 with more of a 60 island/40 mainland feel. I understand the episode title for the season premier is:

Because You Left

Or something of that nature, that tells me we're going to be dealing with island happenings created by the departure of the O6.

Jeremy Benthem's death can be handled in one scene...won't take long.

Newly created island problems will take longer.

Where the island went and the effects of that move...they could spend a good deal of time on that.

Plus the further development of the fan four, now three on the island. I'm looking forward to that.
