Probably already got mentioned a hundred times...but when Jack was getting fitted for his tux and he had a tanktop on, he had no tat on his shoulder. In the scene before, it was front and center in the camera...and then...it was gone as he was helping freaking Scot Farkus fix his tie...

So, help me here...I know you all already noticed that...but, has somebody figured out what the tat is about...what does the writing say...any help would be excellent....

Yes, I too noticed this tattoo thing. I didn't have time to really stop and look at it, but there are some numbers on there and some Asian text, neither of which I know the meaning of, but it has to have something to do with his "wife" who I am thinking will be another tragedy in his life pre-Island.

And OMG: Scott Frackus, LOL, I love it.... that made my morning, thanks.

It was discussed long ago, but I THINK it was decided it was the actors own tatoo. Thank God, that is one cheesey-*** looking tatoo...

Well, in the little research I have been able to do, its said 1) the tattoo is his and the writers had planned to use it in future of the show (this is from a message board thing around the beginning of the show) and since they covered it up last night, they are at least leaving open the possibility of using the tat later for something. 2) there were some pictures of another set of tattoos on his lower left arm that I have seen off and on, is on the underside of the upper arm some stars and stuff, looks like five, but I can't be sure. There is no evidence on the web to their actual meaning to MF, but it seems they are all his.

I think I read somewhere that he and Scott Wolf got matching(?) tattoos after Party of Five wrapped, but it was so long ago, I can't remember where or when I read that.
Also, I was re-reading transcripts tonight (yeah...I'm that big of a geek) and in episode 6 (House of the Rising Sun) Kate asks Jack about his tattoos because she says he doesn't seem like the type, and he declines to speak about why, saying that its personal and he has his reasons but does not wish to share them.
Not sure what that means, but apparently the tattoos are significant somehow.

An TPTB have set it up so we know Jack got his Tattoo after he got married. Radical Spinal Surgeon.
