In the series finale, everyone knows that the Island will be moved for the last time. After that, it will be "lost" forever.

Some of the Left-Behinders stay on the Island and some want to return to the real world.
Some of the 06 want to stay on the Island and some want to return to the real world.

What would be emotional and perhaps shocking is what happens to the characters and their relationships.

Does Kate end up with Jack or Sawyer?
Do Rose and Bernard stay on the Island?
Does Hurley realize he is happier on the Island without his millions?

One of the last scenes is of the Island disappearing forever. Those going back to the real world will realize that this was supposed to happen no matter how heartbreaking it was saying goodbye to their friends.

For us the viewers, we would know that some of our Losties are still on the Island and that it is still out there somewhere in time and space.

Now that would be a great way to end the series. It would be as if the Island adventures are still happening only we can't witness them. Thus, their stories still go on forever in our hearts and minds, as does the Lost story and those who returned to the real world.

Could happen. You have to admit, it would be a very emotional ending to a great series. Just knowing they are still out there is pretty gut-wrenching.

Comments?

P. S. Go Vincent!

Excellent Papathor, just excellent, yes Rose and Bernard stay on the Island, although maybe once she finds out that she'll live forever, Alpert, maybe she'll change her mind. Also don't forget that Hurley has no money he gave it all away to his parent, although maybe he has the Oceanic settlement, which in Sun's words was "quite substantial" I'll say, it was substantial enough for her to buy a controlling share of her father's company. I love your idea, as long as we get some answers before it goes for the last time.
Just a question, who is the poor sap that has to turn the wheel?

They found the last polar bear on the Island, and got it to turn the Wheel backwards. Polar Bear went back, and so did the Island... and it's still out there... somewhere... for someone else to find.

Are you suggesting that the direction you turn the wheel has an influence on where or when the Island goes, then why would Ben say it is unpredictable if it's a little predictable.

Depends on how fast you move the Wheel. A bear could move the wheel much harder than Ben, so that would launch the Island much further into the past (very dangerous) than Ben moved it.

Top notch speculation, Pops! I like the idea of the Island being Lost forever. I also think everyone who has died on the show will make an appearance.

The likelihoood of this scenario depends on whether the characters intend to profit by selling real estate or tourism on the island.

That's a good theory PapaThor, and I agree with you that it would be a great ending...

But, maybe, I think we still need to see a little bit more b'cos is too early to tell. As you said, Rose maybe, wouldn't like to live forever like Richard, and who knows what other problems would they find in the "future", as we can see in the trailer, the guys attacking them. Who would them be???

Maybe, another good ending would be the Island being destroyed, and then, as a result, the Valenzatti Equation would be modified... I dont know jaja

But anyways, leaving their fancy lives for some happiness is a pleasing view.

I like it, and could live with it.
as long as we get an answer or two to (no not too2) the lingering questions?

Smoke monster
Four toe
Black Rock
Where did Desmond get all the booze when he came back on the sailboat.

Interesting I hadn't thought about that.

it's an excellent theory because it leaves open what I've thought all along after the show ceases on the airwaves... "LOST" the movie. It makes sense to do this and I'd certainly pay to see it.

I've already seen the ending you've described and it was really depressing.
Quantum Leap. "Sam never leaped home."

Let's see.. a huge curtain drops, everyone comes out and takes a large bow, smokey comes out from behind the curtain and yells "psych!" and Vincent rolls over.

Kidding.. I always thought the end of the show would be the beginning.. they're all on the plane, etc.. (did that just blow your mind?) ;)
