View Full Version : richard DOES age + lockes knife
favabean75 01-21-2009, 06:20 PM so my theory is that richard does age, he seems like he doesn't because he is jumping through time from a single point. so that's why we'll see him in 1950 or 2005 as a 40 year old, simple.
when he visited little locke to ask about the knife, i think locke had killed someone in 2005 that richard did not or could not believe that locke his leader would do. after little locke chose the knife as his, richard leaves with the knowledge that 2005 locke was not who he thought he was or that locke killed someone that he was not supposed to. this could have possibly lead to lockes ultimate 'death'. just theorizing here but it seems very possible.

lol true!
Interestingly before Ben turns the FDW, he tells Locke that "Richard and my people will be waiting for you..." He could have just said "My people will be waiting..."

CalistanWay 01-22-2009, 04:42 AM During this year's Comic-Con, one of the questions concerned how old Richard was. Darlton responded...by not responding, but did make it a point to indicate that the Island affected aging differently than the outside world. So while he could very well be jumping around in time, my thinking is that he's been a part of the Island a loooooong time.

I think so too, that he's been there a long time.. can't wait to see more from him.
milleama 01-22-2009, 06:15 PM Hello, I'm new to posting here.
I think Richard probably ages a lot slower...or maybe he doesn't. We know that he can probably die (like Mr. Friendly, and because they were all wearing masks when the DI got gassed). I do think that the island bounces around in time - relative to non island time. One minute the island is in 1950 outside world time and the next time it shifts, its 1996 outside world time.
I think Richard is looking for Locke...throughout time. When Desmond ventured outside the island, his mind wandered and ended up in his 1996 body...he knew something was off, but he coulndt really remember it. I think the same thing is happening to Locke, and Richrd is trying to find him. Thats why little Locke drew the smoke monster picture, because he had slight memories... Some of the things richard presented to little Locke were old Locke's things. If old Loicke's mind was in little Locke's body...he would have vague memories of what belonged to him. Richard realized that Old Locke was not in Little Locke's body anymore.
eddypots 01-22-2009, 10:48 PM Richard, just like Hawking, are time-trapped people, who already knows what's about to happen.
The are the recruters aren't they???

I still think Richard probably doesn't age, or at least ages a lot slower. My opinion is that he is one of the original island natives, unlike Ben's group (Mr. Friendly, Juliett, Ethan, etc.).
When Locke asked him why they all disappeared Richard told him that they "didn't disappear John, you did". This to me suggests that Richard and the island natives probably are different from everyone else and aren't effected by the "skipping of time" on the island. Like the Island, the natives remain constant in time, but everyone who wasn't born there will continue to jump back and forth in time until it's resolved.
