Did anyone else see Smokey in the LOST logo that appeared with the promo? It could have been just me, but ....

And Charlotte did say, "This place is death" yes? That cannot be good.

I have only seen the preview once so excuse me if I am totally wrong...
Was that Smokey dragging someone through the jungle (ala Locke in season 1)...
and who was being dragged through the jungle?

I think it was Charlotte... not sure though.

Does anyone have any speculation what the title "Jughead" may refer to? As a childhood fan of the Archie comics, I wonder if this episode will make any reference to Jughead Jones?

I'm pretty worried about Charlotte at this point, not because I like her character so much, but because I'm concerned she'll be killed off before we learn about her back story, which I'm sure has pretty interesting island tidbits. Don't want her story to end up forgotten, like Libby!

Jughead. Military illusion? Those were fiery darts in 10/21/09's episode. And our rifle boys (who nabbed Sawyer and Juliet) were military, just not 2009 military.

I think Smokey has been spotted. Multiple times in this preview--in the footage itself pulling in someone and in the LOST logo that popped up between scenes--looking like moving smoke.

Charlotte's bloody nose may mean that we are going find out a lot about the Island's history next week, especially if Miles comment about wanting to get back to the Island (last season's finale) is true.

I think there was explosion as well as smokey dragging somebody through the jungle! It was very quick, so I don't really know who it was.

Charlotte is a season regular, she is not going anywhere for now... hopefully. Her being in danger is a good motivation for Daniel to save everybody though :rolleyes:

It has to take incredible discipline and strategic planning to set something up and then return to it four years later as they appear to be doing with the Smokey dragging someone through the forest scene. I felt like in the first season there were a lot more appearances by Smokey, and in later seasons they really cut back. One of my top five mysteries is the scene where Locke is being dragged through the jungle and they throw the grenade down the hole. It's probably something every fan wants to see explained, but it's got to take incredible discipline and patience to throw that in there in season 1 and then not return to it until four seasons later.

Smokey may be the best character on the whole show! :woohoo::woohoo::woohoo:

if we've seen that the Frozen Donkey Wheel existed prior to Dharma, and the Frozen Donkey Wheel AND Smokey's chamber beneath Ben's Otherton home both had Egyptian glyphs on them, then anyone making the same guess that I am--that this week's episode will show us that Smokey was not created by Dharma but existed prior to Dharma?

I think you're spot on there, Pink Human. I've always felt that Smokey is a bigger, more mysterious and ancient force than either the DI or Others knew. Ben has a measure of control over it, but that certainly doesn't mean he created it. My money's on it being created way earlier.

Have you ever wondered if Richard Alpert's eyeliner-look is because his favorite song is
Walk like an Egyptian
since that might give us a very interesting tie in to
the glyphs on both the FDW and Smokey's chamber
and that would also give us at least some clue about
why the foot statue was wearing ancient-looking footwear

Sorry, but I had to spoiler all of that since this is the preview section. I haven't seen it pop up as a theory in the other speculation sections, but I could be wrong.
