How do you think Miles got the boar.

He can speak to the dead - apparently dead animals too.

Yep that's how I took it.

Yeah, sort of a cross between Dr. Dolittle and Derek Acorah

Exactly! If only they had had fire before the attack.

i took it as him basically walking off nto the jungle, asking the animals and spirits, "hey, any newly dead critters out here? preferably ones who didn't die of weird illnesses? ... awesome. your body's coming with me; your soul can go away now. thxbai."

I had this really weird feeling he was going to do that when he wandering off into the jungle looking for food! Hes a useful guy to have around!

I quietly hoping we see an expansion of his powers in general. With the islands help maybe?

Miles (to a dead boar): Hey there. How long you been here.

Boar: Ehh, few hours I guess.

Miles: So, uhhhh can I... hmmm, may I..

Boar (interjects): Have a feast dude!!!

I'm going with "I talk to dead people, oops, I mean animals."

And I just cracked up when he brought that boar to the camp. It was too too funny. Especially after Rose has gone all grrrrrrrrrrr-y on him for eating the peanuts in season 4's finale.

lol I remember him saying the boar has been dead for 3 hours after dragging it to the beach.. was too funny! How did he know its been dead for 3 hours? lol and then they had no knife or anything to cut it up with! Sawyer and Rose were so funny during that part! :D

Miles reminded me of Locke!

:D good stuff

I took it much the same as everyone else...he got it with his ability, but not via talking to the animals. There's a BUNCH of dead folks running around that place, he could have simply said, hey man...we got a bunch of hungry folk back there..you guys know any fresh meat that died of natural causes recently? Ah..k...thanks.

I found it kind of ominous because Eloise (Faraday's expiramental rat) died within minutes of running the maze - the boar dies three hours after going through what is probably the same "conscience time travel" that everyone on the island went through. Now the nosebleeds! Is everyone doomed if they don't have a Constant?

Maybe it is just coincidental but I thought it was interesting that the flaming arrow attack started right after he returned. Could he have accidently led the "fire arrow" people back to the losties or could he have done it on purpose?

I agree that he was talking to some of the dead people on the island, not dead animals.

I thought he was either talking to the dead to find food or he can see dead animals to because that boar looked like it had died of natural causes unless Miles broke its neck(which seems highly unlikely).

I hope we see miles talking to some of the dead on the island....just like Hugo

Maybe he'd just stolen their dinner and they were coming to get it back. If so, he should have waited to take it until after they'd roasted it a bit.

I wondered if perhaps Miles heard the boar die while he was still on the beach and that inspired him to go look for food. Didn't the light change between his departure and return? He knew the animal had been dead three hours because that was how long it had taken him to find it and haul it back. It's kind of a neat revision of Locke's boar hunting, with Miles tracking the animal by its death and using it, and Locke tracking a live animal and killing it.

I do agree that Miles might have led the attacking force back to the beach, since the boar looked heavy and I expect Miles wasn't taking trouble to be quiet on the way back. I am not sure he willingly helped them at this point, since he seemed as surprised as any at the attack.

While we're on the subject of food--is anyone else wondering why the Beachies are so worried about food so soon? It's only a few months, their time, since Sawyer was knocking mangos from a tree with a stick and Kate was bringing in bunches of bananas and Ana Lucia was banging coconuts on pointy sticks. They can't all have forgotten so soon--do you suppose it's just the shock of realizing that even if they found a cell phone tower, their phones wouldn't work because they haven't subscribed yet?

So far nobody has mentioned what I think might be a very cool thing about Miles, namely, that he has the ability to manipulate people and animals. I think that Miles is sort of like Walt - he can "manifest" things. Except, he's had more years under his belt, and therefore is better at fine-tuning it.

In other words, Miles went out to the jungle, picked up the vibes from a wild boar, and then somehow telepathically/psychically convinced the boar to impale itself on a tree branch, or jump off a cliff, or something like that.

I don't really think that it would have been a very good idea to go out and just find an already dead boar lying on the ground and bring it back to eat - that's a surefire way to get trichinosis or worse - especially from wild pigs.

As per leading the flaming arrow dudes back to camp - yeah, that's a distinct possibility, and if so, maybe they could "sense" Miles out there in the jungle doing his voodoo stuff...
