Interesting selection, especially from Cheng/Cande/Wax?Wickum..
Lyrics:
Shotgun Willie sits around in his underwear
Bitin' a bullet, pullin' out all of his hair
Shotgun Willie has got all of his family there
You can't make a record if you ain't got nothin' to say
You can't make a record if you ain't got nothin' to say
You can't play music if you don't know nothin' to play
(Repeat 1st verse)
Well, John T. (Fours)? was workin' with the Klu Klux Klan
The six foot five John T was a hell of a man
Made a lot of money sellin' sheets on the family plan...
I don't know what to make of it. I like the record skipping
parallel though. I think last season someone made a
record skipping theory.. I think.. pretty sure.
Curious to see what other songs we get.

I liked the skipping record parallel as well. I also like the parallel that Daniel can't make a record (notebook) if he's got nothing to say (was never there during the formative years of the DI).

Record skipping more ammo for time looping?

I just started laughing when that song came on!! It's been so long since I've heard it. I have a feeling that we're not going to be hearing that one everywhere like we've heard Mama Cass. ;) Now we know that Chang or his baby likes Willie Nelson.

That old phonograph sure looked familiar. (Think Swan Hatch inconsistencies.)

GAAAHH, what does it all mean? It skipped on the "you can't make a record" part, which makes me wonder if there's any significance to that, maybe like enigma240 said in regards to Daniel, or maybe something larger regarding the Island.
Then again, it could mean nothin'.

We know, from the Comic Con transmission, that Chang was freaked out because he could do nothing to stop Daniel's version of the future. If the island is a record album, as Daniel has suggested, then Chang may feel that he's got "nothin' to say". I've got a feeling, however, that the skipping we are starting to see may give him a chance to "get back in the groove".

The turntable that Chang has looks like one of the turn tables in the Swan hatach. We saw one with a wooden base and one with a silver base. Scroll down

What do you guys think re: the fact that the record wouldn't move forward? I think it also foreshadowed the fact that the island can't move forward with it's future until two things happen.
1. Daniel figures out whatever it is he needs to figure out.
2. The Oceanic 6 return to the island and set the timeline straight.

As much as I dig the Willie song, I think it was put in to remind younger viewers that at one point in time, there was a thing called record players, that would occasionally skip. When Faraday said 'think of the island as a record on a turntable' it was fresh in their minds.

Okay, I thought that's what you might have meant, thanks. Wasn't there one in one of the houses in Othersville as well? I figure Dharma ordered them in bulk.

I see our losties as the needle and it is skipping and touching down at different points/time on the song. As daniel said time is like a string - maybe that string is looped back on itself like a record and is spinning round.
