One of my first theories of the whispers is that they are the Losties from different times. The last episode lends evidence to this theory.

View Full Version : Whispers theories kaostika 01-22-2009, 06:04 PM One of my first theories of the whispers is that they are the Losties from different times. The last episode lends evidence to this theory. Koastika Bluedog1121 01-22-2009, 06:05 PM I had this thought while watching last night, also. MikeNY 01-22-2009, 06:24 PM Sounds good. But exactly how that would work isn't clear to me yet. The time-travelers, so far, seem to be fully physically present, and not just heard (actually there, not just a whisper). Chieftanfeces 01-22-2009, 07:15 PM Yep, thought the same thing. I mentioned it this morning in the Could Our Losties be The Others thread. caforrest2047 01-22-2009, 11:27 PM The time-travelers, so far, seem to be fully physically present, and not just heard (actually there, not just a whisper). But that could be for our sake, except for the fact that people have interacted with them, Ethan, Richard, Desmond and Jones and his men. Marcus Antonius 01-22-2009, 11:38 PM you know, i had the same thought about the losties being the whispers today, but i can't reconcile it in my head. when you read the whispers transcripts, it realy seems like there's a whole other world going on there, not just people hiding behind trees so that they aren't spotted. the transcripts definitely lead me towards some sort of "remote-viewing" theory, but could this still be our losties somehow? as far as i can tell, we've yet to see the event that causes the whispers to exist in the first place, so they could still be anyone. Halcyon 01-23-2009, 01:18 PM Marcus - I think we are both thinking along the same lines, and I had posted this in one of the S5 episode threads but thought it was applicable here as well... let me know what you think? ... keep in mind that our left-behind Losties aren't the only ones "jumping". The rest of the Dharma/Others that remained on the Island are experiencing it as well. One scene in particular from last season came to mind when Juliet/Sawyer and crew were trekking through the jungle at night: Remember (back in S4) when Juliet and Jack were headed to the Tempest station, they hear Whispers, and then Harper appears seemingly out of no where?? She tells Juliet to get to the station and that Ben is "exactly where he wants to be", which at this point I believe that he is already gone and off the Island with the O6. I could be wrong, but I think there were also Whispers in last night's scene during the night jungle hike and the scenery looked very familiar. I'll have to rewatch again, but the point I was trying to make is that maybe the Whispers are a form of "cross-talk" between timelines?? Juliet/Sawyer and crew heard the Whispers in last night's episode... what was really heard was the "crosstalk" coming thru of the encounter Jack and Juliet had in that same spot with Harper. What Jack/Juliet were hearing was the "crosstalk" of Juliet/Sawyer and crew hiking thru that same spot but at a different point in time. The Island's special properties might leave a "footprint" of sorts in time... Harper on the other hand, is jumping across time as well and appears at a point in time where she warns Juliet to get to the Tempest station and says "Ben is exactly where he wants to be". At that point in the story, we think she is talking about Ben being locked up in the cell below the house in New Otherton as being "exactly where he wants to be", but in reality Harper had jumped back from a point in the future where she knew Ben and the O6 were off-island and making preparations to come back, but events still needed to unfold precisely as we saw them in order to faciliate that return. Does this make sense to anyone but me?? LOL I think we are going to definitely see another Harper episode, and we will see that same scene where she confronts Jack/Juliet in the jungle but from her perspective... Also keep in mind: that phrase "exactly where I want to be" has been used by both Harper in reference to Ben, but also by Miles when he was tied up in the boat house. Miles told Kate he didn't want to be set free, and that he was "exactly where he wanted to be" because the Miles we were ACTUALLY seeing was a Miles that jumped into that point in time from a future point because he knew he needed to pass 3.2 million dollars info to Ben. We don't know what the significance of that specific number is yet, but I'm willing to bet we find out - and it will end up being something similar to when Faraday told Desmond "if nothing else convinces me, tell me that you know about Eloise" At some point we haven't seen...Ben is going to tell Miles that he has to give Ben in the past this specific number in order to set certain events into motion that result in the story we have seen so far.... wow... my head hurts... Fierro 01-23-2009, 01:36 PM I posted this on a similar thread: I just had a new theory about the whispers and I am almost 100% sure that it will end up being right... The whispers are actually coming from the losties that were left behind while they are carefully hidden in the bushes, spying their time 'doppelgangers' during the different island time jumps. Think about it... They already KNOW where/when the survivors are gonna be, but they might have been warned by Daniel NOT to INTERACT with their time doubles because of the terrible consequences (remember Candle freaking out about the bunnies getting close to each other?) So, as you can see, the losties who are now 'jumping through' time have ALWAYS been there together with the original survivors, spying on them, wanting to help change the course of things, but not being able to. They might end up being the REAL OTHERS, the ones that used to vanish and not leave tracks... If this is true, kudos to the writers!!! Everything seems to have been planned very carefully from the very begining of the show... LostLaura 01-23-2009, 01:47 PM Please post in the Whipers thread (in my signature; in this same forum). This is a repeat thread. Lucidity 01-23-2009, 02:00 PM I was never that into the whole idea of the Whisperers being the Island's dead, but the moment Ana Lucia told Hurley that Libby had said "Hi" that was the conclusion I came to. LostLaura > Please post in the Whipers thread (in my signature; in this same forum). This is a repeat thread. I wasn't aware that there was a theory behind the Whispers thread. I thought you just did transcripts and discussed when and where whispers had been heard. What is your theory then, basically? LostLaura 01-23-2009, 02:13 PM There isn't one theory in the Whispers thread. It's basically where any theory on Whispers has been deposited. But it doesn't matter, unless the mods agree. Lucidity 01-23-2009, 02:16 PM Personally, I'd have thought it's fine to start a new thread on the topic of the whispers as long as the theory isn't a repetition, but like you say, that's one for the Mods to decide. jane_eire 01-23-2009, 02:19 PM ...the whispers are beautiful...
