I don't ever have theories. I usually sit back and read what comes from your brilliant minds and drive myself crazy over them. But I had a thought (and if it's been touched on already, feel free to de-bunk me!)

The hatch - we push a button every 108 minutes.
Why?
Maybe to stop the island from "jumping" in time.

Perhaps now, that Ben turned the "wheel," the island is in perpetual "jump time" - jumping every 108 minutes, until "time" is reset.

Thoughts?

That's a great thought. I wonder if someone on the island has a working time piece.

Imagining that the Swan workmen were the ones who breached the pocket of EM radiation, I imagine it produced a result of moving the island by so many degrees (less than 90 degrees but more than 20)... causing the sickness incident.
