View Full Version : Jack's Dad
DublinLad 04-09-2005, 08:50 AM I was wondering what thoughts you all had on the wehereabouts of Jack's fathers body?.Jack-*** never mentions the body at all.Do you think his father/ the body will tun up in future episodes? The producers simply cannot let this one go unexplained!

Monkey 04-09-2005, 08:57 AM Ewwww, if Jack's dad's body turns up it is going to look and smell nasty, covered in bugs and stuff. Unless the others took it and put in somewhere where it wouldn't rot as quickly.
DublinLad 04-09-2005, 09:13 AM To True but coffins are screwed down pretty tight when in transit and if I remember correctly the coffin wasn't busted open , it was more like the lid was unscrewed and the body removed...still allin all a little creppy to why anyone would want a dead body?

OR, it was never on the plane to begin with. *Remember, the ticket agent gave Jack a hard time about transporting Christian's body because the proper paperwork was not completed. *I don't think we ever saw a definitive resolution to this (I might be wrong, though -- all these episodes are flowing together in my cluttered little brain). *What if Jack "let go" of the idea of returning Christian's remains to LA? *Didn't Jack tell the ticket agent that he was taking the casket directly from the LA airport to the burial? *If that's the case, who would ever know (besides Jack) that Christian wasn't in the casket? *
If the plane hadn't crashed, on Jack's return to LA the Shepard family buries an empty casket. *At a later date (after the empty casket burial), Jack could always quietly arrange to have Christian's body transported from Australia, exhume the empty casket, and bury Christian properly (without Mom, friends, colleagues ever knowing the truth).
I think this scenario makes sense. *It explains the empty casket (without potentially going into a zombie storyline). *It explains Jack's reaction to finding the empty casket on the island -- he was frustrated (smashing the empty casket), not shocked that the body wasn't there. *It also reinforces Jack's personality traits -- being the "good" guy, doing the noble thing, etc. *Given the choice of returning to LA with no casket to bury (and further upsetting his mother), he takes the empty casket.

adamh 04-09-2005, 03:56 PM I believe that one of the writers posted on the VIP board that the body was on the plane. I'll try to find the posting.
Perian 04-09-2005, 04:15 PM This is one of the creepiest (if not the creepiest) mysteries of LOST. If the body was indeed on the plane and the casket wasn't destroyed during the crash, then Jack's dad has to be alive somewhere on the island. Maybe he's off hosting a tea party for Ethan, Boone and Sceve?
technophobe 04-09-2005, 06:43 PM Don't forget Joanna and the Marshall! Real party, eh?
I honestly never noticed that that little mystery was never solved. That's creepy... I completely forgot about the coffin and all that. Does anybody know which episode that was in?

This is the exact scenario I thought the first time I saw the episode way back in October. I wouldn't put it past airlines to do such a thing, really. But, if one of the VIPs says the body was on the plane, then it was... have to wait and see if that's confirmed or not.

I believe it was White Rabbit. Where Jack follows "his father" to the caves.
waltisfuture 04-10-2005, 05:31 PM Who was the screaming kid, beside Christian on the plane?
Sawyer?
CouldBe123 04-10-2005, 07:31 PM I dont think the kid could be Sawyer, because he's too close in age to Jack.
But it could be Walt--maybe with his mom leaving Michael?
Elf-lady 04-10-2005, 07:36 PM :laugh:The way I see it, Jack found his dad's casket in the wreckage by the caves AFTER he'd seen his dad's "ghost' or whatever. The casket was empty and there was a hole in the corner, as an airhole. I think Jack's dad is alive and on the island; he or someone faked his death.....I at one time thought his dad was orchestrating the whole thing, a "mad doctor" kind of scenario, but I'm not really sure anymore-- but he's involved with the Others, I just know.

Me too. When he was fired, did he go work for some unscrupulous company/country making really bad things?
yahof 04-10-2005, 10:12 PM I've gone totally cross-eyed trying to find the VIP confirmation on the Fuselage. There are a few other threads on this topic, and people
mention that Javi confirmed on the VIP boards that the body was on the plane. But I sure as heck can't find the actual post. I even
searched the VIP archive on the LB. I'm guessing that it was not here but in an interview or something?
Anyway, if somebody knows where to find it pleeese post here. Thanks.
Mithrandir 04-11-2005, 12:08 AM After rewatching some of the episodes, Ive come to the conclusion that Jack's father represents evil. He's the one that got Sawyer to kill the innocent man, and almost got Jack to backout of his wedding.
DublinLad 04-11-2005, 03:46 AM Thanks for all the replies that you posted,I really hope the producers answers this question...I really want to know what happened Jack's dads body.
Surely daddy can't turn up alive? sure Jacko saw the body in the mourge right?
