Oh yeah, they totally call them "red shirts" in some of the podcasts, when they aren't calling them "socks" that is. This is from ATBCHDI (courtesy of Losthatch transcripts, best site ever). I believe they are looking for Charlie and Claire at the time.

Locke: Nah. Not really.

I'm so glad there's a post about this! After that guy got killed I was explaining that to my parents and they both got a kick out of it as we all used to watch Star Trek when I was growing up...
