I know the Langoliers have been mentioned before but this episode reminded me again of the book/movie.

When they are in the "past" the food tastes flat and they can't get the matches to light (similar to Bernard not being able to light a fire). Then, when they travel just a bit ahead of the present, they are standing in the airport waiting for time to catch up and one of the first things that happens is that they hear voices (similar to the Whispers perhaps). Then they start to see ghosts of the people in the airport (the present catching up to the future).

This may not have any significance beyond just being another amusing parallel to a Stephen King novel.

I just mentioned Langoliers to someone this week. I've posted on the Langoliers before and I couldn't agree more! There's a definite influence there.

Bernard was able to light a fire. He just failed to keep it steady.

So many Stephen King references in this show. I am actually curious if they are going to end the show in the same way the Dark Tower series ended.

With everything coming full circle and maybe only one thing changing on the next iteration of their time on the island, until eventually the universe course corrects, and everything is back to normal.

So many things have reminded me of the Langoliers (over the lifetime of Lost) that sometimes I suspect that King is a secret writer.

They better not end it the way Stephen King ended the Dark Tower, it was disappointing, a cop out. I hope they are brave and creative enough to write a real ending like JK Rowling did for the HP series.

Hey, GG! (This is Heather...)

I've read The Langoliers and considering TPTB's worship of Stephen King (and Damon's personal love of all things time travel), we can assume they've read it, too. So I'm sure aspects of it have definitely influenced their storytelling.
