Could “Danielle” be Daniel’s mother?
Probably grasping at straws here (and this is my first post), but here are some reasons why Danielle could be Dan’s mom:

--Danielle was a scientist (possible Oxford connection).

--Dan tells Desmond to “go back to where we first met”; this could mean not only the place—Oxford—but going back in time as well. Since Desmond is “special”, maybe he will go back in time to meet Danielle before she and her science team leave in 1988 and give her some sort of warning/information that will alter events on the island when she meets the Losties 16 years later. (This would be like in “Flashes Before Your Eyes” when the 2004 Desmond consciousness goes back to 1996)

--similar first names (Dan named after his mother?)

--Danielle never had any flashbacks in the series, so Dan being her son could be a big “reveal.” (Maybe Danielle’s disappearance was the catalyst for Dan becoming a physicist obsessed with time travel).

First of all WELCOME!:biggrin: Good first post! Danielle being Dans Mom would be a HUGE shocker! And it is possible. Why Danielle would only mention having a daughter and not a son would be wierd, but she was crazy, so who knows. Some people are having problems with the current theory that Mrs. Hawkin is Dans Mom because he dosen't have her british accent.

My Neighbor is from France & her Husband is from here, She has an accent but her kids do not since they have lived here and have only visted France a couple of times. Just because a parent has a accent, the child does not have to have one.:hypocrit:

Anything is possible, but I don't think it makes much sense. There isnt really any evidence to suggest that Danielle is Daniel's mother. And I think Danielle would have been very very young when she had Dan. Not that he is very old, but to me she seemed to be very young when she was pregnant with Alex...

I agree, Gidget Girl. Daniel is by no means old, but much older than Alex. I think that Danielle would have been a kid at the time that Daniel was born if we assume that he's about 10 years older than Alex (at least 26, right?). She looked pretty young when they got to The Island.

ETA: Yeh, definitely at least 26 and likely older since Desmond jumped back almost a decade in time and Daniel was working at Oxford... Unless he was working there at the age of 16 or so...

Sorry but this has to be one of the worst theories I've heard. Ignoring the time discrepancies with Danielle's age it is completly left field. Alex is Danielle's only child I firmly believe that.
