No, I don't think he's actually a priest. I posted somewhere else that I think he's somehow connected to Kate's shady background. It seems like everybody is connected in some way.

with the heroin plane all the drugs were hidden inside the Mary statues. He might have wanted to smuggle them somewere and dressed like a priest to pull it off in customs befor the plane crashed onto the island

I agree totally with Sarapace. I don't think Ethan ever got to meet this "priest" Anyone thought about the fact that the priest was laying high up in a tree? Just like the flight 815 pilot? My guess is that either he somehow got propelled from the plane and fell on top of the trees or he escaped from the crashed plane and eventually was catched by whatever makes those "monster/machine" sounds.

No he's not a priest, he had a gun. He had nigerian money on him, there was a plane with tons of drugs on it and a map of nigeria. So let me think........He was probably a nigerian drug smuggler.
