I just rewatched "Orientation" from season 2. In the orientation film Dr. Candle states that Alvar Hanso is a "munitions magnate." Interesting. I bet his connection to this whole thing is related to the bomb.

No, the bomb was there way before DHARMA arrived, Richard said that a batillion of army troops planted the H-bomb, and Faraday later explained that it was mor ethan likely to be one of the US government's isolated tests of H-bombs, nothing to do with DHARMA. DHARMA arrived at least 20 years later with no idea that there was a bomb there. DHARMA was there solely to investigate the electromagnetic anomaly found on the island.

i will be very disappointed if Alver Hanso and the Degroots are not tied in buy the end of season 6!

Right, the bomb was there way before Dharma arrived, but that doesn't mean that Hanso's connection to Dharma isn't a result of his interest in the bomb. Hanso looked super old in the orientation video, so it's real possible that he was around when the bomb showed up on the island.
