View Full Version : The first ever scene of lost, replayed
amslostfan 02-04-2009, 08:40 AM I was having a think and remembered that the Writers had said how the first scene of episode one season one of lost where Jack opens his eyes and is lying in the jungle, plays an important part to the rest of Lost. With the introduction of time travel etc what are your thoughts on this scene? Could this scene be Jack coming back to the island???

This has been discussed extensively in other threads.
And there was a rumor that we missed 'a clue' in the pilot, however, opinion is divided as to whether this is true or not, i for one have never seen the source myself.

Yeah, he went and woke Jack up.
In Mobisode 13 "So it Begins" we see Christian talking to Vincent, he says "Go and find my son, he has work to do"
Thing that has always bothered me is how did Vincent survive the crash? He would have been in a cage in the cargo hold, which as we know was sprayed all across the jungle. I'm thinking that he's 'dead' like christian, must be, how else would he understand what christian said to him? Last time i checked dogs don't speak English.

The same could be said for all of them. Remember, Sayid said they shouldn't have survived. I hope they get back to the whole the Island wanted them there for a reason thing.

If Christian is a ghost or a manifestation of the Island, Vincent's lack of English ability shouldn't be a problem.

Why are you kidding, they have a close up on Vincent's eyes and any loyal Simpson's fan knows what that means.

I'm looking for an old thread here about Vincent surviving, they had a hell of a lot more details than i could come up with, i'll edit post if i find it, my own memory of the thread isn't satisfactory. However i do remember the point being made that Vincent would have been at the back of the tail section, and as we know that crashed in the sea (the other 48 days) Yet Vincent was with the fuselage. So how do you suppose that in the time the plane crashed he got out of his locked cage, swam ashore and made it to the beachcamp area, meets 'dead' Christian and understands his command to find "My son" and wake him up.
I'm sure Vincent is in the same boat as Christian after further review, the 'undead' category.

i guess honestly, i wasnt really kidding-
but it just seems so out there-
Vincent may be the hinge holding this door on.
undead dog? hmmmm,,,,
EricGunn 02-04-2009, 10:44 AM To answer the thread's question before I digress, I have thought of that too...What if...
What if it wasn't Christian's coffin, but Locke's? I'll do a search if this is discussed elsewhere. Good subject though.

In 2007, a few of us debated on the possibility Ben sent Smokie a minute before F815 entered the Island's space time and crashed. His absence from the bookclub meeting in "A tale of two cities" was suspicious. Now, if you add the similarity between the earth shaking we saw in that episode and as seen in "The shape of things to come" when he programmed Smokie, it raises the possibility IT's responsible for the smooth landing of the plane pieces, except for the over the water falling tailsection.
The other possibility is even more far fetched than Smokie landing the fuselage and cockpit sections...

PS "We need a Smokie flashback..."

I actually wasn't kidding also, when Jack, Kate and Charlie go off into the jungle to find the cockpit, they show a close up of Vincents eyes, the smilie was about the Simpsons, just wondering if anyone knows the episode I'm talking about. A dog with shifty eyes the episode is called Beyond Blunderdome (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beyond_Blunderdome) ctrl-f and type dog it should be the first highlighted one.

Absolutely, sooner rather than later if they don't mind.

That could be a possiblity, but I'm in the other camp. Vincent is just Vincent. If he was a possessed corpse like Christian or a manifestation of the Island, then it wouldn't make much sense for the Island to tell itself to wake Jake via Christian.
Bluedog1121 02-04-2009, 11:00 AM I don't think that Vincent is undead, just because we've seen him eating and drinking, which we haven't seen Christian doing. I do think he has an important connection to the island, though. Sort of in the way John does. It's important that John is the one who calls Vincent in from the jungle to the beach. Also, it's kind of a miracle that any of them survived, not just Vincent.
As far as Ben not attending the book club meeting, I thought maybe Juliet "forgot" to inform him of that particular meeting. I only assume this because of his snarky line, "I guess this means I'm out of the book club. Of course, there was also the annoying guy (can't remember his name now) who went on about "Carrie" and about how Ben would never read anything so stupid.
I watched "White Rabbit" recently to compare John's casket to Christian's. The interiors look similar, but the wood on the exteriors are different shades of brown. Anyone have screen caps?
