View Full Version : Why is Sayid pissed at Jack?

When they parted at the pier Sayid says to Ben and Jack something to the effect "If I see EITHER of you again it will not be pleasant for any of us" or something like that.

I can understand Sayid's mistrust/dislike for Ben especially when he finds out that is was Ben going after Kate and that Ben knew Jin was alive and let Sun suffer with the belief he was dead. But Jack didn't know any of that. As far as we know Sayid hasn't seen Jack since Hurley's welcome home party and Jack DID just save his life. So why the hostility against Jack. Just because Jack seems to be on Ben's side now?

Well it was clear at that point that Jack was allied with Ben to get them all back to the Island. I think Sayid was angry that he had been led on, and also that Jack didn't seem to put up much protest when Ben revealed all his duplicitous behavior.

You'd think Sayid would cut him some slack, as Sayid himself was in the same position before working for Ben and killing people for him even. Maybe it has mostly to do with Sayid not wanting to go back to the island. Plus Sayid's emotions getting the better of him as he was already very distrustful of Ben.

From Sayid's POV all Ben has done is lie, cheat steal, murder, manipulate. Jack ssems to be okay with Ben, so Sayid must see it as Jack turning into Ben.

Obviously Sayid learned the hard way that Ben is bad news, something happened to force Sayid to stop working for Ben, and whatever it was it was awful enough for Sayid to tell Hurley to do the opposite of whatever Ben says to do, I just can't wait to get that story.

I wonder how Sayid feels about himself then. 48 hours (Jack) vs. 3 years (Sayid) Saving lives (yes, that's you, curly Jack Bauer) vs. killing scores of Ben's enemies.

I just think the writers needed Sayid to take off from the scene (and in his defense, I still think Ben killed Nadia and he found out) and his character got hit with the Bad Characterization Stick again, nothing more. Remember when he got amnesia and he was asking about Smokey (when he'd been on the beach and heard him from Night One) in season three, like he was some newly arrived foreign exchange student?

Jack/Sayid is my OTP, so here's to a hot, angsty, bromantic make-up. ;)

Although he doesn't like his relationship with Ben, with whom he is pissed off, I don't think Sayid is pissed off with Jack. I think the writers were trying to emphasize that he wanted absolutley nothing to do with returning, that he will not entertain anymore stuff about it and that he is willing to threaten violence to ensure he doesn't have to. Jack is advocating they go back so they had Sayid address him as well. They're trying to build suspense I suppose and get us wondering just how Sayid winds up going back when he won't even listen to Jack.

Well said, I agree.
