View Full Version : He's not your son Kate

That was some line coming from Ben. Since he knows just how Kate feels. After all he wasn't Alexs father.
I wonder if at some point Ben will help Kate keep Aaron away from Claire.

nope. he's just a mean, spiteful person baiting her into craziness. he wants her back on the island and this is his plan to make her think she's not safe anywhere off island. he doesn't care about aaron and who the heck his mommy is. he is an evil person.
but i really like him.

I don't think Ben has much compassion for anyone but Ben... the incredible cruelty of stealing a newborn from a mom who very much wanted her child, then raising her as his own all the while knowing that the birth mom is out in the jungle struggling to survive... that's right up there in the pathological penthouse, same in essence as his mass murder of the DI but the only difference is in scale. Ben's raising of Alex was all about Ben imo
Kate, on the other hand, while also a murderer had the vision/dream of Claire begging her NOT to bring Aaron back to the island... tacit acceptance of her surrogate motherhood... totally different scenario... and while Kate does get something out of raising Aaron she's always wanted... being a mom, she also is doing it to protect him (the scene on the rescue ship and her convo with Jack) as well
I think Ben would only help Kate if it served his agenda, period. As a classic sociopath, everything is about Ben and what he wants... Aaron et al are all just pawns on his chessboard
the same applies to his keeping Aaron from Claire or bringing them together... he won't hesitate to do what benefits him

but if he really wanted her back on the island, why did he tell her he was they one trying to take aaron

perfect. if she had come to him after jack had told her they needed to go back and said that she was going back but she didn't want to take aaron, ben would have moved the moon to help her find someone suitable to care for aaron. he would do anything just to get what he wanted. look at what he did just to get her to think someone was going to take aaron. he hired an attorney and he involved carole littleton not even caring that she may get too curious and figure out that aaron is related to her. of course, if she had, he'd probably have just killed her with his stick!
i tried, i tried to get through the post without a smark remark. but it's just too hard!

I love this...what do you think he's paying for rent up there?
I started a thread to this effect last week because the irony of Ben telling Kate He's not your son given his relationship with Alex struck me as really, really odd
I am coming to the conclusion that Ben does not have a morality, just doesn't think in terms of wrong and right
I may be wrong but Ben is so all over the map it would be difficult to attribute any coherent code to him...I think Squid got it right, he's pathological
You can describe his actions in terms of psychology but not morality, I don't think Ben has time for that
Will Ben at some point help Kate keep Aaron from Claire?
If at some point it suits his purpose

I am actually of the mind that Ben is the "good guy" as he keeps insisting to us. Morality goes by the wayside when you are trying to save the whole world. His behavior is a means to the ultimate end. Sort of like the whole you can't make an omelette without breaking some eggs thing.
Granted, he manipulates everyone around him, is devious and calculating, but I think he is trying to do these things for the greater good (or what he believes to be the greater good.)
Of course, I may just like Michael Emerson the actor so much that it clouds my judgement when it comes to Ben. Emerson rocks in this role.

This was a very bold card for him to play, I was surprised Sayid didn't call him out.

he is a good guy. in his own eyes. he doesn't think he's doing anything wrong because everything that he does is for the good of the island. remember how sad he was when he didn't recuperate as quickly after the surgery as he wanted. he wanted to rise from the operation able to walk. jack told him that it was severe enough that it would take a while before he could walk. but he was so jealous of locke that he was able to walk the moment he landed on the island. his jealousy stems back to the island and that the island was unhappy enough with him to suffer. but it doesn't deter him. he continues on his journey to be the ultimate in the eyes of the island. he is always trying to prove himself to it, and wants to be the end all and be all in it's eyes.

my pleasure! what would a show like lost do without a fabulous villian like ben? he has just brought so much to the show. i love his remarks, his mannerisms and his brain! he will be there til the end, i am sure.
i'm convinced his character will go down in tv history, or at least he should!
