Now we know!! Flight 815 was headed for the Island all along and many of our Losties were supposed to be on that Flight for a reason.Just like this go around with Flight 316... someone or something was responsible for getting our gang on Flight 815. Of course, they had the wrong pilot the first time. ;)

Love how Hurley shows up with( I'm guessing) Charlie's guitar case. And ala Kate and the Marshal, who shows up in handcuffs but Sayid and a law enforcement officer!

What ya wanna bet Des arrives on a boat just like the first time he arrived on the Island?

Wonder what role that guy seated across from Hurley will play? A plant by Widmore?

Ooooh good idea about Desmond. I bet you're right. He has to return by boat!
Wonder if he'll have the MacCutcheon's with him this time?

Seeing Hurley with the guitar case reminds me of Danielle's crew with the violin case...that just seemed an odd prop to have...surely there is some connection or significance.

Wasn't Rose wearing Bernard's wedding ring around her neck on a chain on the original flight? If so, there's another "re-creation" as Sun has Jin's wedding ring.

So...does the Island needs certain people because they have a prior connection to the Island themselves? That has been my thinking for several seasons...that many of the Losties were to be on Flight 815 because they had someone responsible for getting them on that flight. We have seen that is the case at least with those on Flight 316...Hurley, Sayid,Kate,Jack,Locke, Sun and Frank.

Or is it because the Island allow proxies...in other words are some of our Losties proxies for other Island people from the past? So we are seeing Reincarnation via Proxy?

There has to be a good reason for these proxies. I don't think that Richard had to go through all this when he was traveling back and forth the island. Which route did he used when he brought Juliet to the island?

The Island (Jacob?) is looking for people... just like Richard has been doing on his behalf... and these people must have certain characteristics ...but Jacob can't recognize them by their faces, so Ms. Hawking and Ben have tricked the Island (Jacob) into letting the plane through.

Let's assume Desmond is alive and now has some reason to go to the Island, whether to track down Ben or because he was was convinced that he or his son has to be there. His boat couldn't get to the same "location" at which flight 316 used to reach the Island, at least not quickly enough since Hawking made clear that the window of opportunity for that particular "spot" was only open for a brief amount of time.

If Desmond does end up back on the Island, he'll either do so by accident, because the island controls his destiny, or by purpose in which he gets Hawking to figure out where and when he needs to be.
