Seems to most Obvious answer

I am thinking Kate had another Claire vision--she looked scared. She was convinced she had to return but Aaron was not allowed to return.

Anyway, thats what I think----as visions, dreams, and dead people have actually been the most motivating factor, to my eye, for the O6 to realize they cant stay home.

Yes, I think Kate AND Hurley had other-worldly visitors give them instructions.
Claire is to Kate as Charlie is to Hurley ;)

Or maybe Grandpa... grandpa Sheppard!

I think she gave him to Grandma. Best place for him. Christian/Jacob didn't want him on the island anyway. I still think TPTB are executing a double-entendre with Hurley saying "You can't raise him Jack" and Claire saying "Don't you dare bring him back Kate". I think the double meaning is Locke. Don't bring him back and don't raise him. I think this means Locke too, and maybe by proxy, Ben.

Alot of people seem to be going for this idea, but I really don't get it. How can you just go to someone and explain to them that you have been raising their grandchild for the last 3+ years and expect them to immediately take the child in their arms?

Yes, this would probably be the most simplest answer, but I just don't see how this could theoretically work out. Jack afterwards already went and kind of drop the ball to her about it and she wasn't really chasing after him questioning about the child.

I think Widmore stole Aaron and is making Kate go back to the island or Kate dropped Aaron off with Cassidy to watch over him.

My friend actually raised a good point: Aaron could be with Sun's daughter. Sun mentioned them meeting abd playing at some point. Kate could wholly trust sun too because sun is with her and wouldn't go to the feds over her leaving the country. Plus Sun would only leave her daughter with someone she trusted.

But Ji Yeon is in China. Remember Sun had the phone conversation with her daughter and she asked when she was coming home.

I doubt Kate put Aaron on a plane to China.

My money's on Kate having left Aaron with Carole. I think Kate took Claire's warning to her in her dream seriously about not bringing him back, and giving him to Claire's mom would be the right thing to do. I wonder what thought process got her from "You guys are crazy" to "I'm going with you" in the space of a few hours though.

I am betting money that she didn't do it directly, that she's made arrangements for Grandma to get Aaron, with an explanation.

That's got to be one helluva explanation!

South Korea, I think.

Yes, I was going to say, I don't know why Ji Yeon would be in China.

Kate had ripped clothes and looked like she had been in some sort of physical altercation. I don't think it was a Claire vision.

Kate said, "why hold onto something that just makes you sad?"

If someone stole Aaron, Kate should be worrying/crying trying to get Jack's or any of the O6's help to get Aaron.
I doubt she left him to Carole, because you can't just explain everything at once and leave the baby you loved and cared for so much to someone you barely know..

I think Kate left him to Des & Penny that's why to me she doesn't seem worried, just sad that Aaron isn't with her anymore but she knows Aaron is safe) ..

When we see Kate laying on Jacks bed she is teary eyed. At first I thought she was sad from leaving Aaron, but Kate was so dead set against going back to the island.
She was also very angry with Jack for even suggesting it and for bringing Ben around her.
Now a day later, she puts Aaron some where, throws herself in to Jacks arms, is willing to go back to the island with him.

The same can be said about Hurley. All of a sudden he is there willing to get on the plane.

No I think it was more then a visit from Claire or Charley. Something major must have happened. Something that scared them or threatened them more then Ben or visions of lost friends.

In Kates case I wonder if Aarons life depended on her going back and she was told not to tell anyone. Other wise why not tell Jack where Aaron is?

I just don't know what it was.

When I first saw Kate she didn't look sad to me, she looked distraught. The first thing that popped into my mind was "oh my God, something happened to Aaron" She did not meet Jack in the apartment but was on the bed, almost catatonic for a few moments. It kind of reminded me of how I was after my father died. I just laid there not wanting to move or interact with anyone. I just laid there thinking about what had happened and how I couldn't do anything about it.

My second thought was worse, that maybe SHE did something to Aaron but I dismissed that thought right away and actually was angry with myself for thinking such a thing. I know Kate would never hurt Aaron but her expression wasn't just sad about having to leave him behind. It wasn't worried either. That would have been more like she was at the pier when Sun left him in the car. It wasn't frantic like she had to run right now to do something to help him. It was a resigned like she knew she could do absolutely nothing except go back to the island.

The rest of the 6 besides Jack and Sun were coerced to be on Ajira 316. Sayid is with a steely eyed woman with a badge, probably because Sayid is the most capable when it comes to elusiveness through ninja tricks and dishwasher knife-fu. Kate was left on Jack's bed, helpless like a stillborn baby, crying because she had no easy choice. And Hurley has always gone with the flow. If someone sits him down and explains to him what is necessary for the benefit of the group, he will do it.

I think the brain behind the previous attacks on Sayid will be revealed and it will most likely be tied to Widmore.
