Anyone think Ben blackmailed them all or screwed them over in some way in order to get them on the plane? ManOfScience6 02-19-2009, 02:10 AM I think all three are on the plane against their will. Kate seemed to understand this when she told Jack that "Just because we are on the plane, doesn't mean we are together." atlas1212 02-19-2009, 02:17 AM Well Ben did have leverage over all of them. Aaron with Kate. Sayid and his crimes he had been committing for Ben. And Hurley and his arrest. woland 02-19-2009, 02:18 AM All three were quiet, pissed and clearly didn't want to be there. Anyone think Ben blackmailed them all or screwed them over in some way in order to get them on the plane? I think it is more complicated than that. Kate gave up Aaron and she's free so there isn't much to be blackmailed with there. Kate was just going through a myriad of emotions to anguish anger fear on what she was about to do. Hurley well he had a guitar remember Hawking saying that they had to recreate the circumstances of 815 and Charlie had a guitar on the flight and Hurley has been regularly talking to dead people perhaps one of his friends from beyond gave him the inside information on the flight number and what he had to bring. The only reason Hurley was angry was because Ben was there. Sayid well, once again the conditions of 815 had to be recreated and as we all know there was a prisoner on 815. Sayid did seem incredibly calm for a guy under arrest. Which makes me think he was in on the arrest having to recreate the circumstances and all. He was very calm for being under arrest but then Sayid is just a calm guy under pressure being handcuffed on a plane next to a fairly attractive woman is far from the most dangerous position he has been in. I think something was very, very wrong with all three of them. All three were exuding this flat, hurt, dead kind of feeling--which Jack wasn't noticing. The question for me is, who was behind it? There are many factions that might want them back at the island. I also slightly suspect Sun, terrible as that may be. It could be Ben, or it might be Widmore's group or another group with interest in the island we don't know about yet. Edit to add: I suspect some of the leverage came from possibly Aaron, obviously, and possibly Hurley's parents being used. e-lls 02-19-2009, 02:29 AM I don't think it was Ben who got Hurley on the plane. Hurley was shocked Ben was aboard and said, "No one told me he was going to be here." To which Ben replied, "Who told you to come?" implying that he wasn't involved. In fact (and he's probably lying) Ben seemed to be in the dark on a few thing in this episode. Devera 02-19-2009, 12:25 PM I don't think it was Ben who got Hurley on the plane. I'm looking forward to seeing what happened. lostmio 02-19-2009, 12:31 PM Hurley probably had another visit from Charlie. Anyone think Ben blackmailed them all or screwed them over in some way in order to get them on the plane? Yeah, I'm not sure that Ben blackmailed them, but someone did something that caused them all to be there when they really didn't want to. And when Hurley says "Who told you to be here" to Ben, he implies that someone told him (Hurley) to, I just wonder who? Abso-friggin (http://forum.thefuselage.com/showpost.php?p=2098520&postcount=10)-lutely. LostMyMarbles 02-19-2009, 01:07 PM What really struck me was that all the O5 seem to loathe each other, or at the very least they are totally indifferent. Only oblivious Jack even attempted to talk to anybody (Kate, of course). But these people are also totally isolated from the outside world. To our knowledge, nobody has shared any information with anyone else, except for Hurley telling his mom. They are all very, very much alone. It's certainly a weird dynamic to be taking back to the island. The first time, people tried to look out for each other. Jack was running around saving people. Now, he's willing for them to die for the sake of The Island. hiltop 02-19-2009, 01:25 PM I felt like Hurley had total peace about being there. He was secure in his instructions (from Charlie?), knew what he had to do, and knew that he would survive the crash (face mask). Kate felt compelled to be there but still upset that she had to leave Aaron. Sayid seemed to be the only one not there willingly. lostmio 02-19-2009, 01:29 PM I felt like Hurley had total peace about being there. He was secure in his instructions (from Charlie?), Yes, only "Resigned" is how I would describe Hurley. Dude's gotta do what a dude's gotta do... lostorfound 02-19-2009, 01:46 PM All three were quiet, pissed and clearly didn't want to be there. Anyone think Ben blackmailed them all or screwed them over in some way in order to get them on the plane? We know Ben influenced them. He admitted to scaring Kate with the DNA scam, he came up with Jin's ring and sprung Hurley. I wouldn't be too surprised if Ben played a part in getting Sayid extradited and even insuring that Frank was the pilot of that flight. I don't know that it went as far as blackmail. Sure they were quiet and didn't want to be there. They're about to experience another plane crash! Not only that, but there is no absolute insurance that they'll even survive. Pissed, definately. They spent three months stranded on that Island, under the most bizarre and dangerous circumstances where every day was astruggle to survive and get the heck off! They're finally home safe and Bentham starts visiting telling them that they have to go back...I'd be pissed too! Bicklefitch 02-19-2009, 02:06 PM We know Ben influenced them. He admitted to scaring Kate with the DNA scam, he came up with Jin's ring and sprung Hurley. Yup, Ben's involved. But I think, at least in Hurley's case, Ben is only part of the picture. Charlie's a good bet, given the guitar case, but I'm guessing Widmore's got his finger in the pot as well. The look that Hugo gave Ben in reply to his question about why he was there, suggested, to me, that he wasn't too keen about divulging his sources. Widmore may have had his claws in Hurley for some time. If you think about it, Charles had to have an informant to have known the details of Alex's death before Ben came to visit him in London, and Hugo's the only one with first-hand knowledge that made it off the island. And his "secret" meeting with Sun in Korea may have provided Hurley with an opportunity to plant a seed about "common interests". maxaholic 02-19-2009, 02:09 PM i think that hurley was visited by charlie, sayid by shannon (maybe) and kate, claire. as ghosties or whatever of the island, they told the losties they needed to go back STAT lostfan4ever 02-19-2009, 02:12 PM Hurley probably had another visit from Charlie. That was my feeling as well. Who else would tell Hurley to bring a guitar? JThree 02-19-2009, 02:32 PM Another possibility is they were visited by Locke... LadyDoveFL 02-20-2009, 08:26 AM I don't think it was Ben who got Hurley on the plane. Hurley was shocked Ben was aboard and said, "No one told me he was going to be here." To which Ben replied, "Who told you to come?" implying that he wasn't involved. In fact (and he's probably lying) Ben seemed to be in the dark on a few thing in this episode. Actually, I took Ben's reply to be somewhat sarcastic, suggesting that Ben told Hurley to be on the plane; that being the case, Hurley should have understood that Ben would be on it, too. quizzical 02-20-2009, 03:59 PM Hurley probably had another visit from Charlie. Exactly. Ben may have had something to do with Kate and Sayid, but I think Hurley had a visit from Charlie (and maybe Libby? *fingers crossed*). LadybirdKate 02-21-2009, 07:06 PM You know what I'm wondering? If they're going back in time...will they eventually forget their past lives...only to reloop on the time cycle so that they can reloop on it? :stars: atlas1212 02-27-2009, 11:53 PM Yeah, just because Hurley said that, doesn't mean Ben didn't manipulate him onto the plane. He just might not have told him that he was going as well. |
