View Full Version : Did 316 Crash? Or are the O6 Time Jumping?
roger work man 02-20-2009, 06:51 AM I thought we were lead to believe that 815 "crashed" because Desmond did not enter the numbers on time...which lead to some sort of EMP which ripped the plane into pieces.
In the Pilot Episode, the passengers can see the plane being ripped apart while they are still in the air.
With 316, Hurley states that one minute he is in the plane, next in the lagoon.
With 316, Flash of Light (similar to what the Lefties experienced when they time-jumped). I don't remember any flashes of light when 815 crashed.
With so many differences between 316 and 815, can we assume that 316 actually crashed on the island, or did the island simply take back the O5 (O6 minus Aaron) in a "time jump" manner as the plane flew over? Is 316 still flying? Since the O5 went back in time on the island, is it possbile that if 316 lands in Guam, the O5 are still on board?
LostMyMarbles 02-20-2009, 11:46 AM OMG--The O5, Ben, the two newbies and Frank (duplicates) landing on Guam and wondering why Mrs. Hawking's mumbo-jumbo hadn't worked! But what's the point unless they work that into the storyline?
Actually, maybe not such a good idea after all.
I think they were pulled out and placed "when" they were supposed to have been. That is, if they hadn't left the Island, they'd be in 1970 with the Left Behinders. So when they returned, that's when they appeared. I'm not sure why Sayid and Sun apaprently didn't return then also. And it's not clear whether Ben and Frank were supposed to be on the Island. Ben wasn't supposed to turn the wheel, so maybe he shouldn't have left. Faraday seems to be fulfilling things as they were supposed to happen, so maybe Frank was supposed to be there as well.
TeeAnnieCee 02-20-2009, 12:34 PM I think because the O6 had also been exposed to the radiation or whatever on the island that they were the only ones on 316 that were susceptible to the time flash when their plane flew across that window in time. I think the other people on the flight are still on their way to Guam. --- or not, I just remembered that lapidus was flying the plane. If he time jumped too, then I hope they had a co-pilot!

I like your thoughts on this. But how will the other people on the flight explain their disappearance? Would this clue the rest of the world into the existence of the island?

You are right. Bad idea. That would ruin the story.
But my main point was, do you think the plane crashed? Or did they just jump?
From this perspective, 815 and 316 seem very different to me. Agree?
lockesmithe 02-20-2009, 01:01 PM We have seen the Ajira Airlines water bottle in one of the outriggers, in a time that came after the O6 leaving, so we can assume that some 316ers wound up in that time period. We don't know if those 316ers wound up there by surviving a crash of 316, made an emergency landing on the Other's other island runway (that Kate and Sawyer worked on), or were transported there in the same way Jack, Kate, and Hurley were transported to the main island. (Note: I assume that the outriggers came from the Others' other island--not necessarily correct).
We don't know in which time period Ben, Sun, Sayid, and (?)Frank will find themselves in. Were they also transported like Jack et al, or did they continue on in 316? Who was on the other outrigger chasing Locke and company?

Oops. Sorry MF. I like your thoughts better than mine. And you thought of it first.
I will do a better job of searching next time. I saw a few threads about 316 crashing, but I thought 316 not crashing was a new thought. I should have read your OP.
