View Full Version : How it will end

So I'm pretty sure they just set up the basic premise for the ending.
I'm fairly confident that the reason women can't have children is because of The Purge. In this episode, I believe it was Sawyer who said "Maybe the thing that makes women die hasn't happened yet" (or something to that effect). And I believe that the Losties are there to prevent Benjamin taking over the DI, and will therefore have to prevent The Purge. Afterall, maybe the DI weren't just a bunch of "silly experiments".

If this is the case, I'm a little bit disappointed.

I think the losties are going to try to save the children of the DI from being massaccered somehow, by getting as many of them off the Island as possible before the purge.. I mean Charlotte was taken off the Island AND told basically to forget it ever existed

With credits and music. :o

:p

The save the children theory is interesting, as I've been thinking that the War widmore has been talking about is the purge, which would make it the logical ending point. But I think they'll get the kids off before it all comes to a head. Evacuation would mean that they lose the island, and I'm not sure they're going to. I think they'll all end up staying there. Except hopefully Kate.

But they can't change anything according to the "THE RULES" ...so why bother.

i think they are going to circle all the way back around in time and end it with the crash of 815 ...final scene shows us the front of statue before it became just a 4 toed foot...blowing everyone's mind and fading to black...

I've seen it posted more than once that the series will end by showing a frontal shot of the statue. But from a story point of view, what would that accomplish? What great truth would be revealed by ending the series by showing the front of the statue?

I think that the story will probably not end in the 90s, I think they will make it back somewhere in the 2000s and the circle will have been complete.

So far, the characters who have achieved their personal "dharma" have died. I am betting that all of the characters will die at least once before the end of the series and in some way be reborn when their collective "dharma" has been achieved.

Hm, the purge always seemed like a relatively minor incident compared to what else is going on in Lost. I am not sure if I'd like the purge to be the big finale. As a matter of fact, I cannot even think of something I would like for an ending.
I'll just let TPTB serve me their ending, and I hope I'll like it :-)

Perhaps the Purge is the finale for this season.
I don't think its going to be end game. I think this season is about the Dharma Initiative and there is something that the Losties need to change here first.

Then season six will be about how the course correction plays out, and Jacob, and the other bunch of big mysteries.

Purge is end game for this season though, I think.

I could see the purge being the end game for season 5, as well, and not the whole series. It doesn't seem big enough to me to be "the war." I am starting to wonder which of our losties will die in the purge though. Damn, Locke really out to have looked more closely at the bodies in that mass grave.

That's worrisome. >.< The deaths I mean.
But on another note yeah I don't think the Purge is big enough to be end game for the whole series. Because I think Widmore has to get back on the island somehow first and so do Desmond and Penny ect. Not to mention our Losties seem to be in two different time periods and they're going to have to reconcile that so that means Dharma Purge is not end game for the whole series. Because I think they are going to have to get out of Dharma time and reconnect with the other Losties (Locke, Ben, Sun, Lapidus, Sayid, ect.) Unless those characters somehow get to Dharma time.

....interesting that they keep splitting everyone up though.

I've often thought that. The producers are very big Stephen King fans and that ending is very similar to the Dark Tower ending where the story ends but starts back on page one of book one

I agree, but more specifically...
...the show will end with Jack's eyeball lying in the weeds just after the crash of flight 815. I think it will be revealed that Jack is in a loop and the ending will be the beginning and Jack will have to try again to break the loop.

I disgress. I think that might be the beginning of season 6 and that season will be about how they

break the circle. Because then we'd still have this gigantic huge question that will never be answered: How did the break the circle????

But they can't change anything according to the "THE RULES" ...so why bother.
Despite Daniel saying "If it didn't happen then, it can't happen now" we know that some things can change. Ben didn't bargain for Alex's life because apparently, he knew she was alive at some future point so she couldn't die in the past. Surprise! Keamy killed her & Ben was in complete shock because that wasn't supposed to happen (it didn't happen then, so it couldn't happen).

Ben specifically said that Widmore changed the rules to allow Alex to be killed. Wow, does Widmore have that kind of power??? Is he special? How does that work exactly?

I'm assuming that the "special" ones CAN change the rules. We just have to figure out who is special and who isn't. ;)
