Sawyer tells Richard that he is waiting for John to return... he tells Juliet et. al. that he will wait as long as it takes. In John's dream, Horace tells Locke that Jacob has been waiting for him for a long time.

Widmore also tells Locke that the island has been needing him for a long time. How long is a long time? And is there a connection between Sawyer of the DI and Jacob of the Others?

Perhaps "Jacob" is an elaborate con, created and perpetuated by Sawyer.

Richard Alpert seemed to know who Jacob was when Locke visited him in 1954. Maybe Sawyer still has some time-traveling yet to do.

Never knew that. Heard Jacob was a form of Jack ( i think) and that Jack is a form of John.

There was a thread that theorized that, essentially, Jacob was created when Horace went to the WHEEL during the incident, and an extra super amount of energies (nuclear radiation+exotic matter+electro magnetic) turned him into this all knowing etc. Jacob. Sort of like Dr. Manhattan's origin from Watchmen.

Maybe Jack, John, Sawyer, all try to fix the WHEEL at once and are fused into one extradimensional being? Maybe that's its own thread. :)
