We have seen tons of Jacob theories..
Jack is Jacob, Christian is Jacob, Aaron is Jacob, Frogurt is Jacob, Richard is Smokey is Jacob, Horace is Jacob, Ray Sheppard is Jacob I even think that one of the hanso's ( Magnus) is Jacob as Hanso was the captain of the black rock which crashed on the island in the 19th century

What we know about Jacob- he hates technology which is why the natives were against the DI they brought techology to the island
he comes up with names for lists
Ben reported to him
Richard reported to him
Widmore may have reported to him
Locke has seen and heard him
Hurley has seen him
He can speak through Christian
Christian and Claire have been to the cabin
Locke Hurley, and Ben have been to the Cabin
Abaddon was seen around the Cabin
Ash is found around the Cabin
Horace built his Cabin in 70's
Locke goes there to seek answers

Jacob has been on the island a very long time, probably going back to the 50's so I think that can rule out some folks that died recently and living folks such as:
Jack
Christian
Aaron
Frogurt
Ray Sheppard
Horace

this leaves Richard- and Magnus Hanso one of these men has to be Jacob!!!!
Claire has dreams of a Black Rock- the ship that Hanso died in.. what if the blood line of Hanso- goes all the way to the sheppards??? would that explain why christian and claire were hangin out in the cabin? Remember- Locke must bring the family back together the only familys on the island that we know of are: Jack, Claire, Aaron & Christian, Rose and Bernard, zach and emma, Mike and Walt, Jin, Sun & Je Yeon. We have not seen any familys but the sheppards in the cabin.

As I understand it, Jacob is everywhere and everywhen and has mastered time and space.

My top picks
1-Daniel Faraday
2-Desmond Hume
3-Ben Linus

Some poor soul(s) get trapped in the Wheel chamber. The exotic matter goes out of control, in sync with a screw up from the Swan station energy. This causes radioactive energies from Jughead to be concentrated into the chamber and ZAPS the person(s) in the chamber or pushing the wheel. Imagine when Desmond activated the fail safe at ground zero at the Swan. Add in the energy of the wheel and a nuclear bomb. Whatever person, or persons in the chamber are bombarded with ultra powerful energies and are annihilated out of existence from this dimension and learns secrets of the universe(and become one entity). Over time, this new being gradually rebuilds itself to be able to interact with the 3D and 4D worlds. This entity is still in the process of creating a physical vessel.

THAT is my Jacob theory. The Incident is the creation of Jacob.

OR Faraday is in the chamber and becomes Jacob. He's in the chamber to try to somehow save Charlotte by TT or something. Maybe Jacob was his dad's name, name of the last person he talked to, first name he thought of. Maybe Faraday, now knowing the past and future, realized that there wouldn't be any major "players" named Jacob and chose it for that reason. Or, he changed his name in order to prevent some sort of paradox. OR, he was named Jacob by the Others/Hostiles since they've been told his name is Jacob.

Perhaps Ben, Richard, or Christian know this was how Jacob came into existence, and purposefully puts themselves in the chamber at the right time.

I kind of like Ben being Jacob, actually...Ben and Jacob pulling a con on Locke when Locke visited to make him feel special. Of course no one else but Ben can see Jacob!

If faulty technology lead to the agonizing creation of Jacob, it makes sense for him to hate technology. Also, by wearing old clothes and such, it ensures that Jacob's cabin, clothes, etc. won't cause an anacronysm.

Desmond would make sense. He seems doomed to forever stay on that Island against his will alone. He is already special from the Swan implosion. He hates Ben, but likes Locke, which is why only Locke heard "Help me" As far as the Shephards being in the cabin, Desmond's looked out for Aaron and Claire in the past and does like Jack.

So, my candidates for Jacob are, in most interesting order...
Daniel Faraday
Desmond
Ben Linus

Christian (just another case of manipulating a son)
Jack Shephard, James LeFleur, and John Locke (their names are all a form of of Jacob. Maybe the incident happens as all 3 push the wheel?)
Richard Alpert

If Jacob is Richard, I'd expect Locke to take over his spot as spiritual leader and Jack to be the Leader.
Chances are, I'm wrong, but, this is fun ^__^
100%

Abaddon was seen around the Cabin
Jack
Christian
Aaron
Frogurt
Ray Sheppard
Horace

Remember- Locke must bring the family back together

Don't remember Abaddon being at the Cabin. Horace is DEAD. DEAD DEAD. Locke found his corpse.

Locke was never told to bring the family back. He was told to bring the O6 and Walt back (he never mentioned Desmond).

I love it!
I love the thought of Faraday being Jacob- Faraday is so creepy yet likeable..Locke was told by Boone in that dream to bring the family back together.. I assume it was the sheppard.. I am pretty sure Abaddon was in front of the cabin- seen by locke for a brief instant.. although i've been trying to figure this show out for ages so I could have dreampt it LOL

Adam- thanks for your great ideas!

Locke was never told to bring the family back. I thought someone was told to bring "the family" back together. Where "the family" meant people not the O6. Actually as I read more of the posts I see this "Locke was told by Boone in that dream to bring the family back together". This is correct. Locke goes into his sweat lodge, eats his "stuff" and has this vision. He saw it as getting Mr. Eco back, but it could mean a different family. If we are talking about the Sheppard clan, most if not all of them were on the island at one point. Christian (whatever form he is in), Jack, Claire and Aaron. Does he have to kill Jack and Aaron (since we believe Claire is dead since she is hanging out with Christian) to reunite them with dead Christian and Claire?

Seeing that Watchmen is a big influence on TPTB, I can see this happening.

No wonder they get nosebleeds.. I think I might have one if this is the case LOL So I now really don't understand who Jacob is since Des turned the fail safe, Ben and Locke have turned the FDW.. I was jumping on the Jack is Jacob bandwagon since it seems to fit.. but I really like the idea of Faraday that would be an unexpected twist since everything points to Jack.. ie.. name, tattoo, etc..

I still am strong on the idea that JACOB is an old soul - on the island probably from the beginning...when others see him, though, they see him in the body of someone else...someone who has died.

Locke sees him as Christian and later as Christian AND Claire.
After watching the first few episodes of season 5 I think Ben saw him as HORACE....(long hair high forehead match perfectly)

I have no theories on WHY this ...just that this is what seems to be happening.

I always wanted Jacob not to be someone we already know, but if I would have to pick someone I agree with adam118, Daniel is my favourite. He would fit in perfectly.
