Any leads? A future major player?

From Lostpedia:

"Little is known about the economist, except that he "works in emerging markets." Elsa claims that he is very old fashioned in his business, as evidenced by his use of a pager. She explained that he was an innocent man, but it became clear that he was not (as he hired Elsa to spy on Sayid). According to Sayid, he is also not truly an economist. ("The Economist")"

As of yet we know little more than that, it could be Ben as the economist, setting Sayid up for the fall that lead him to that housing project, but i suspect that it is someone on the Widmore side of the war, possibly even Thomas Mittlework from the ARG.

If he is high up, the most likely candidates appear to be Ben Linus, Charles Widmore, or Mr. Paik...perhaps also Jacob, since we know Jacob is averse to technology.
