Since there has been an excessive amount of off-topic discussion in N.A.I.L.S. lately I decided to make this thread.* So if you are a member of N.A.I.L.S. and want to chat with the other members do it in here instead of in the N.A.I.L.S. thread.

Also be sure and check out The N.A.I.L.S. Summer Project (http://www.thefuselage.com/threaded/index.php?topic=19081.0).

I think I'm going to paint the letters N-A-I-L-S on my finger nails. I'm sure it'll be an interesting conversation piece for everyone at the county Democratic Women's Caucus meeting tomorrow.

Hello my Darlings! I am watching Love Actually, which might in fact be one of the best movies of our time. It is amazing.

On other cool news. My friend is doing a remake thing of the movie Spartacus...and I get to be in it. Joy for me...*sarcasic smiley*

It's good that this thread has been made. I suggested we did have a thread where we could talk OT last week, as that would mean that nobody would be able to question N.A.I.L.S's right to be where it is.

Anyhoo, big up to Nicholee for making it!

Well, I'm sure we can get some conversation in while I'm getting ready to leave for a meeting.* The topic of discussion:* How much Dubya has in store to screw things up even more.

I plan on going shopping afterwards.* I'll have a tiny tantrum if I don't get to go.

uk_girl
04-16-2005, 08:55 AM
Mal, Dubya scares me, he really does. I just don't think the guy is in tune with reality. I think he has this thing where he needs to prove he is better than everyone else and that everyone else in the world should fear his power.

I really hoped he wouldn't get re-elected. I stayed up all bloody night to watch your election hoping that Kerry would win.

I do have to say that my politics verge on the activist side. I don't agree with the current Israel/Palestine situation, I don't agree with the war in Iraq in fact I think the whole war on terrorism is a farce. I don't agree with Capital Punishment, I can't abide any form of racism at all, I am pro choice, I think that if homosexual people want to get married then why the heck should we stop them, and I think that George Bush is making the world a more unstable place to live in.

Phew, rant over...

You really do have to step up to the plate. It's all on you guys now to change the way things are and are becoming. I feel the same way about our parliament here. Our present government sucks, it truly does. Blair is nothing but a lap dog for George Bush. Our country is by no means as big as yours, yet hundreds of thousands of people marched to tell Tony Blair that they were against the war in Iraq. Our troops still went to war, including my little boys dad, but Blair hopefully knows now not to try and push us by going in to Iran.

Things will never change by people sitting round and talking about it, it's by having the courage of your convictions to stand up for what you believe, that things change for the better.

That I heartedly agree with. I just recieved my voter registration form in the mail and I felt like it was Christmas. In Canada there is a huge inquiry into the sponsorshp scandal, if this doesn't drive voters to the polls then nothing will.

Speaking of the war of Iraq, I recently participated in a march against the war. Not only did I feel as though I was doing something worthwhile but I met some very interesting people who held similar beleifs and goals. I encourage people out get out and make their voices heard and not just about the war in Iraq. Yearly, my mother and I participate in International Women's Day -- something which I also encourage people to learn about.

I'm not in NAILS.....although I should be because I like Shannon...

Anyway, I agree with GG all the way. I suppose that is why we are President and Vice President.

I think Bush being re-elected is a conspiracy....how can people not see the evil that lies within that man? He makes me cringe.

I also cannot stand it when people use God as a defense mechanism. "Well I don't like this because God say's it's wrong..." or "It's in the Bible so it's wrong"

theG
04-16-2005, 02:25 PM
At the meeting today we were talking about how there are millions of dollars in subsidies given to rice plantations in Georgia when the money should be given to countries in Asia who need that money.* The Bible says it's wrong to leave people in poverty and whatnot, correct?* But, NO! "Moral issues" have to deal with a woman's body and the right for same-sex couples to be treated fairly.

Go join NAILS, Star!

Hey NAILSers! Nice to be able to ask you guys how you're doing! ;) Hey Star! (feels weird to call you that again) lol I'm glad you're joining NAILS bc I never get to talk to you anymore! Stupid school...

Hey guys not that I don't agree with everything you've said here, but just keep in mind that you can't tell how someone feels about certain issues by whether they live in a "blue state" or a "red state". I've lived in Texas my whole life, which most people assume is the biggest "red state" of all, and we all are pro-Bush and go to NASCAR races and carry around guns, and I did not vote for Bust last fall in my first election. Anyways I'm just saying you might want to be careful of what you say because all kinds of people post on the fuselage. Saying things like you hate Florida? That's unecessary. I wouldn't want to see you guys get in trouble from the mods or anything, so please be careful. ;)

G, I had a feeling you were going to get mad at me.
1) I wasn't aware that was from a shirt.
2) I know you don't hate your best friend.
3) I can't see the difference, but if you say there is one, then I'm sure there is.
4) I wasn't attacking you, or anybody, and if you read the last part, I said I was saying that so YOU don't get in trouble.

Anyways, you know I like you and I like hearing your opinions and I hope you don't think that I am mad or offended b/c I'm not. :)

I live in Texas, and I have seen and heard so many different opinions on the Presidential Candiates. To tell you the truth...I really don't care. I am a British citizen living in America, and I really can't show too much respect for a country that is so reluctant to let new people inside. I have been waiting for a Green Card for 6 years now. We just now come to find, that they lost my files, and I will most likely have to wait another 2 years, because I have to reapply. That means, that I cannot travel outside the United States, or I can't return. So I guess I won't be seeing my family for a while.

I also am a Christian. But I believe that Gay Marriage show be allowed. I have many gay friends, and I don't see anything wrong with them. When people at church stick their noses up at me for supporting this cause, I can't help but laugh. They just seem to have an answer for everything. Gay people getting married, is not going to affect the people at my church, or any Christians around the world for that matter.

I do think that George W. Bush is a bit of an idiot, but I don't like John Kerry either. He just seems like a very evil man. I don't think I would have been able to decide between them. le sigh....

Yeah, a lot of my Catholic friends are actually pro-same-sex marriage.

BurningStar4
04-16-2005, 05:38 PM
I don't think anyone here is ignorant enough to believe that whether or not you live in a blue or red state automatically makes you supportive of that affiliation. I'm a liberal from a blue state which has a governor who is a Republican. But I also consider myself somewhat of an Anarchist and there are no "anarchy" colored states

I'm in TX right now and a lot of my friends are liberals and I have others who are conservative. I don't hate conservatives, I just don't agree with what they believe or think about most issues....but even though someone is conservative or liberal they can also sway to the other side on certain issues.

And hating a state is different then hating the people who live there. I honestly cannot stand Texas....but I like the people here, they are nice and I love my friends here, and a few of my friends here at the 'lage are from TX as well....I like my college and I like certain places, but I cannot stand how the state chooses to run certain things, etc. Florida is much the same way. Their laws are so screwed up, especially with all these sexual predator things going on down there....they need to change it fast. But that doesn't make the people who live in Florida bad people, it's just the state legislature that is screwed up.

But hey Wish, how's it going girl? I haven't talked to you or Cheri in awhile....school sucks haha :P

I must agree with all of you who are ashamed that Bush was re-elected. Unfortunately, at this year's elections, I was still one year too young to vote (sadly). I remember the day when Kerry conceeded, because he conceeded right at the end of 4th period, and I was just beginning to leave AP Lit class. Some kid ran down the hallway yelling "BUSH WON! BUSH WON!" This boy in my class, Gordy, stood up, picked up his bag, said "Well, see you all in Canada," and walked out. It was pretty humorous.

And I thought the whole obsession about same-sex marriages was just ridiculous. What happened to separation of church and state? And, besides, saying certain people cannot marry is discrimination. It's wrong. Frankly, it makes me sick how quickly our country is going down the tube. The adults of this country are royally screwing up the country (no offense to any adults here...I'm more referring to the Republicans who voted for Bush...again, no offense), and then it's going to be up to the youth to fix all the problems. It's times like these that I wish I was older.

I agree with all of that.

I feel rather odd now. *Since I refuse to post there could someone post on behalf of me in one of those two threads and say "Nicholee's says she is sick of arguing with you (Andrea) and all the other anti-Shannon people. *She is no longer going to post on the Shannon board. *However, she wants to know how saying that the Chit Chat and Group Ships areas are fun and you should post there more often is a personal attack."

They are indeed. You have to remember to log off your computer whenever you leave your desk or this guy will send e-mails professing your love for really geeky people in the company from your e-mail. He also sticks labels on your back saying all kinds of stuff. The other day he put loads of paper holes from a hole punch in one of my brochures so that when I picked it up they went everywhere. So I tipped them all over the floor and he caught hell from the cleaner. He felt guilty though so he gave me a pen as a present on Friday...

I just feel it's us Shannon fans that are getting targeted directly, don't you think? I have heard so many negative things about the N.A.I.L.S thread, and I just feel like I should say something. It makes me so angry that we seem to be the center of it.

Yeah, it's definitely us. There was a situation, I think, that occured when I was not on the board where people used NAILS as an example of a group that doesn't belong in the LOST section. I don't know the details...

I think we're definitely targeted for certain things. I think it's because we're so close-knit that people are more likely to target us--no other group has such close ties with one another.

People in N.E.R.D. I think it was said something like "I guess in order to be in the LOST part of Group Ships you have to discuss nail polish.".
*notices how I didn't point out your typo* :P

I think that the only other group as tightly knit as ours is the outKaSt group.

Needless to say, there's no bad press their way as it is a Sawyer Kate group

*they are great people in there, and I myself am a member, I just wish that Shannon was given the same considerations as Sawyer is given*

Aww thanks honey. Seriously it really does suck being british, that sounds really unpatriotic of me i know, but it's so cold and miserable here, we have no defined seasons, it's just cold, windy and raining for 360 days a year. Everything costs so much more too. It's almost like Russia, but with bread, you know?

e.g. the Lost dvd set, you can buy it for $39.99USD yeah?

That works out at £20GBP at the moment, but I guarantee that when we finally get round to selling it here probably next easter or next christmas (2006), it will cost about £49.99GBP, equivalent to nearly $100USD

I would love to visit England, but probably no tlive there. I like living in the US, but I guess that's just cause I've never really been anywhere else. Wouldn't mind moving to a different state, though.

Oh wow, that is quite a lot! I am dying for the DVD set to come out. I don't tape the eps or anything, so I've only seen most of them twice.* :(

And this is kind of a dumb question, but are they airing the current episodes there right now?

Chica, the best thing to do is visit the UK for a short while, a very short while!

Nope, we haven't even started getting Lost here yet. We aren't going to get it until late summer - we'll recognise summer because the wind and rain wont be quite so strong for those few days!

The powers that be in our broadcasting media decided that we didn't need Lost yet, we could just make do with DH - boy did they screw up big time! We all just download it instead. I have all the episodes on my pc but I still want to buy the dvd set when it comes out. I will probably order it from Amazon.com though as I refuse to pay the UK price for it!

XxNicholeexX
04-19-2005, 05:57 PM
Nic, if you can't get it from Amazon.com I'd be more than happy to purchase another copy of it and send it to you. Though, I wouldn't even be able to purchase it until 10 days after it comes out.

I miss the UK. I moved to Texas from Scotland a couple of years ago. I guess it's just the whole...climate change, and missing my famliy. But I love Scotland. Good times...

My sister bought a coach purse yesterday. It was 88USD, I think she's a little crazy for spending that much on a thing that you put all your crap in. But that's just me.

That's cool about the skit thing. I love drama. This year, we might be doing Phantom of the Opera as our musical. I am so trying out. I'd want to be either, Madame Giry, Meg, or Carlotta. (Phantom fans will get this!)

Aw, that makes me sad. Lost is in, like one of every 5 magazines out here, plus, there are constantly little segments about it on tv and everything. But on the bright side, all that stuff is available for downloading on websites like lost-media and people post articles on here too, so you can stay pretty up-to-date.

Hey, does anyone know if that EW is still out? The one with some of the guys of Lost? I've been looking and I can't find it. *:(
