Is it a sweet potato or a yam? LOL. Either way, I love those things. ;D Throw a long one to me.

WhiteSapphire
03-14-2005, 05:09 PM
Actually, they're yams. It actually very difficult to find sweet potatoes in the supermarket.

In case anyone was wondering,
Sweet potatoes = yellow; yams = orange
Sweet potatoes grow in South America, yams grow in Africa
One grows on a bush and the other on a vine, but I forget which is which.

Cheshyre

WhiteSapphire
03-14-2005, 05:51 PM

Sorry bout that! *tosses*

Yes, I think most of this knowledge came from anthropology classes that I took. Yams are very important to the peoples of Oceania. They have whole ceremonies surrounding them.

Yams vs. Sweet potatoes

And then there's the rest of my baggage...the ancient, but eternal divorce, the illness, the day I lost my mind (I've been looking for it ever since, but alas), and now I hear I've been signed up to some Twelve Step Program for Fuselage! It's not fair, I tell you! It's just not fair!

But, at least I'm off the damn tarmac, so life could be worse.

WhiteSapphire
03-16-2005, 01:57 PM

Well, maybe 4 1/2. ;)

Yay for the gym. I don't have a gym membership anymore (it was too expensive), I just walk everywhere and try to work out at home.

Snabbygail
03-16-2005, 02:13 PM
My husband and I quit smoking. It's been 4 weeks now. I figured I should do something good for myself that I would like. I decided to join the gym. The YMCA is a little bit cheaper. I was going to a really nice gym last year. I cancelled my membership when I started going back to school. It was way too much money. I think more preventative things should be covered under health insurance. Doesn't make sense.

WhiteSapphire
03-16-2005, 02:16 PM

Snabbygail
03-17-2005, 02:11 PM
I'm being so good. I had a turkey sandwich on very "wheat" bread. Blah, I'm getting use to it, a yogurt and an apple. It's so much more fun to be bad. I'm going to weigh myself in two weeks. If I haven't lost anything you all can witness me have a nervous breakdown.

WhiteSapphire
03-17-2005, 02:15 PM
For me, it's not the number of calories, but the amount of unnecessary money that I spend when I go out to lunch. It's so much better to make things at home and then bring them in. Well, better as in cheaper. Sometimes I'd really just go down to a deli and get a real sandwich instead of leftovers.

Wendys is okay though.

WhiteSapphire
03-17-2005, 04:20 PM
LOL - BS4, you're from NYC, right?

I have a personal theory that the McDonald's in NYC are more disguisting than any other McDonalds. Whenever I leave, I think the food tastes better.

Though those chicken strip things aren't bad at all, even in NYC. ;)

BurningStar4

McD's sucks....I can't comment about the ones in the city because I haven't ate there since I was about 5....but I refuse to eat there, I will vomit. I'm not a big fast food eater anyway, but that is definitely on the bottom of the chain haha.

WhiteSapphire
03-17-2005, 04:30 PM

Sometimes I just get my bad food cravings. Though, honestly, I usually come to regret it later.

care_n_jim
03-17-2005, 04:38 PM
The salads at McD's aren't too bad -- all around if you have an Olive Garden near you -- you can eat lunch there for less than the cost of Fast food --- Better salad --- soup and breadsticks -- the only problem is the all you can eat part :lol2:

Ugh. Cranky. I woke up to several emails telling me I had done things wrong. Problem is, I just followed what the manager said to do. I resent when people won't take responsibility for their own mistakes.

But I am happy that it's Friday.

Yeah, the worst part is that I just agreed (well, was assigned) to help her out because she can't deal with her own work. This is the second time this has happened with the same person. I don't think I'm going to agree to help her again after this is done.

Well, we're being forced to all take a weeks vacation sometime in June because production is slowing down. I guess it could be worse. It gives me an excuse to take a whole week off. I wasn't really planning on taking a vacation this year. Hopefully the weather will be nice. I suppose I could use some R&R.

WhiteSapphire
03-18-2005, 11:01 AM
That's not so bad. Do you get vacation days that you'd have to use up anyway, Snabby?

I just saw the girl that got me in trouble. She seemed to be avoiding me. Grr . . . I am so mad that I don't want to do any work.

Snabbygail
03-18-2005, 11:45 AM
Sucky Sucky. She probably knows she should be the one in the hot seat. Stick a tack in her chair.

Yeah, I was planning on banking it though. If you save 80 hours in this catastrophic bank you can bet paid your left over vacation at the end of the year. Oh well. At least I get to take some time off. I'm just happy I have a job and getting a paycheck.

WhiteSapphire
03-18-2005, 11:55 AM
Oh, if we don't use our vacation, it just disappears . . . *poof*

Snabbygail
03-18-2005, 11:58 AM
That sucks. I wish I could save mine for a whole year and then the next year take a whole month off. Ha ha. But then again they might think they don't need me if I was gone for that long. I must keep them under the facade that I'm indespensable.

WhiteSapphire
03-18-2005, 12:00 PM
