View Full Version : Ben on Ajira 316 - Where was he?
avandelay 03-20-2009, 09:13 AM After Frank skillfully lands the plane, he steps into the cabin to assess the situation. Seconds later, Ben appears behind him... Now the only place Ben could have been was in the restroom which is right next to the cockpit. Why was he in there? Someone speculated a few weeks ago that when Ben moved away from Jack, after discussing Locke's suicide note, that Ben may have actually killed himself on the plane, with the expectation of being resurrected ala Locke. Could that have actually happened?? I am also reminded that Charlie was in the bathroom when 815 crashed... Could that mean anything? Is an airplane lavatory a safe place to be during a crash??
MysteryFan 03-20-2009, 04:57 PM Ben said he'd give Jack some privacy and walked off. Guess the only place he could go was the bathroom. Not much love for him from the Losties on 316.
Hurley had the guitar (proxy for Charlie?). But Ben got beat up the night before and ended up in the bathroom - just like Charlie.
Funny how you still miss characters like him -- I'd love to hear Charlie's reaction to living in '77 with DI!

I just assumed like Charlie he went to the restroom. I honestly don't think he killed himself.
Maybe it was just more repetition....like Sayid being a prisoner in cuffs, Sun holding her husband's ring... just like in flight 815.
100%

"What's with this bloody music they're playing?"
Toxic_Crackers 03-20-2009, 05:03 PM There is some weird stuff with the bathroom but even if he did want to give him some privacy.... he could of sat some were else that is not near the other guys... btw did anyone notice that it was dark when the plain started to rumble and then when it was starting to go down it got to daytime ( just an observation)?

I missed that but didn't we see a lot of day/night stuff like that back in the first couple seasons maybe even when 815 crashed?

We saw it last season when the chopped flew out to the freighter. It turned from night to day as they passed through the barrier.

When you gotta go, you gotta go... and if that doesn't work for you... sometimes a guy gets lonely...
atlas1212 03-20-2009, 06:49 PM I like how Ben lied on 316 as well. Jack asked him how he could read..and Ben said, "My mother taught me". But Ben's mom died during childbirth.
Bluedog1121 03-20-2009, 06:54 PM I'm wondering if him disappearing to the bathroom has something to do with that box he had in the hotel room.
Either that or he was snorting heroin. ;)

This made me snicker... Poor Ben gets no love, even after baking a ham for Juliet.... :naughty:

Actually, what happened was they were flying in daylight, flew into a thunderhead, and then emerged into daylight again. It never changed from day/night or night/day when Frank, Sayid and Desmond flew to the freighter.
When 815 crashed however it changed from night to day although we didn't see it. I think it's when they fly threw the barrier on the wrong course. When Frank flew Desmond and Sayid through the barrier, he was on the proper bearing and therefore the night/day change didn't occur.
NBC001 03-22-2009, 10:00 PM Ben was upfront stealing the passenger manifest. The flight attendants are the ones who have the passenger manifest not the pilots.
Ben had the manifest in his bag that he tossed into the outrigger.
The 316ers found him unconscious he told them another one of his lies.
Ben: I saw the pilot with the manifest and some woman running away so I followed them they were getting into one of these boats and when I tried to stop them the pilot hit me with an oar and I must have blacked out.
I don't think he's going to say it was Sun that hit him.

Yep, then after stealing the passenger manifest he sat down and buckled himself into either an empty seat up front, or one of the flight attendants seats.
