In the Swan Orientation (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jk9At3txC4M) film as well as the Flame film Pierre Chang did not have use of his left arm. But in the Pearl Orientation film (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yFGFaeeDWHA) he did and we also saw him use his arm in Namaste. The Swan Station has not yet been build so how do you think Pierre will loose his arm?

The incident obviously happens after the Swan is built, because in that orientation film, he mentions it. So, I think he will lose use of it during the incident itself. I don't think he will survive the purge.
Incidentally (haha), I just looked at the lostpedia timeline for help, and they have something wrong - they say the incident was pre-1977, but as the Swan wasn't built yet in Namaste, that can't be true. Well, they also have "The AH/MDG incident" as 1985. Were there 2 incidents? Anyway, the purge was in 1992, so yeah, I'm going with the incident as my answer.

I am hoping for another Smokey scene, but Jenny I agree, the incident is my best guess. I have to add that in BYL the camera focussed on his left hand quite a lot, where he puts the record on, heating the milk, picking the baby up, etc
I wonder though, what exactly happened.

I voted "other," but "the incident" was my second choice. We've already seen the smoke monster chop off an arm, and the purge was more knocking people out than cutting them up (besides, the timeline is off).

Have we seen or heard about Smokey yet in 1977 yet? If not it's possible it was created by the incident, as neither one has been explained yet so they could be connected. Also, when did Smokey take someone's arm off?

Smokey took Montand's arm off a few eps back. Which ep was that? This Place Is Death?

Anime_Otaku, you're right--we don't know if the smoke monster exists in the 70s. It does in the 80s when Danielle's team shows up.

I voted for the Incident, but really I just hope we get to see this. Two lost arms in one season would be the mark of a truly excellent television program.:n022:
