View Full Version : Ahhh, the sweet taste of revenge
MRPEMSTAR 03-26-2009, 02:05 AM After all these years, Sawyer gets his revenge. Yeah, yeah, I know it looked like he cared.
I'll tell you what, all he cared about was HIMSELF and how HE LOOKED to the DHARMA people, he couldn't give a cr**p about Sayid's safety or well being.
After all this, will you Sawyer lover's "get off your box" and realize that he hasn't changed at all. Not one bit. ME, ME, ME and his existance, when it comes down to the "core" of James LeFluer/Sawyer/Ford that's all that really matters HIMSELF period.

lockeisthekey 03-26-2009, 02:32 AM I disagree. I think Sawyer cared about Sayid. He tried to get Sayid to join the Dharma Initiative. he told Sayid how to go about doing that.
Sayid did not want to be saved-- he wanted young Ben to "rescue him" so that he could kill Ben and prevent the entire Ben saga in the future.
Sawyer had 5 other people he was trying to keep safe-- Jin, Kate, Jack, Hurley, and Juliet. What was he supposed to do? Sacrifice all of them for Sayid, when Sayid didn't want the help?
Devera 03-26-2009, 02:38 AM I also disagree. James wasn't getting any pleasure out of Sayid's torment.
James tried to get Sayid to join the Dharma Initiative multiple times, and he also tried to have Sayid fake his escape. He wasn't gleeful or attempting to get revenge...he genuinely was trying to save his friend, Sayid. He also went to Kate to try to figure out what Sayid's motives were so that he could better convince him to save himself.
I've no doubt Sawyer is in the wrong place. He has been caught up in the dream of the Dharma Initiative--that's what our characters do, they are seduced by dreams that are too good to be true or nightmares that take them over, and they stray. However, before it all comes shattering down around James, he is going to try to hold onto it--and his heart is in the right place, because he is still looking out for all of those he cares about.
Andromeda Irulan 03-26-2009, 02:46 AM I don't see why everyone seems to think a little selfishness is a bad thing. We all do this, and Sawyer is exactly the same way; he definitely does care about other people, but not to the point that he'll jeopardize his own safety for theirs. His concern for Sayid was genuine, but in the long run, it was either (a) rescue Sayid and find himself in Sayid's position the next day or (b) let what happened happen and keep himself safe.
We'd all go with b. Self-preservation is how we survive.

Agree. He did what he felt was best for the group and it was tearing him up inside that he couldn't help out. Very nice character development for LeFleur, I like it.

...and Daniel!
Ash_1200 03-26-2009, 06:53 AM Disagree.
Sawyer told Sayid what he needed to do, Sayid chose to take a path that didnt leave Sawyer with any options that didnt involve exposing the rest of them. ITs going to be hard for Sawyer to give up what he has with Dharma, like he said hes carved out a decent life for himself and the others their and we have to remember 3 years versus 100days.
Give Sawyer some slack, he sacrificed himself on the helicopter, hes suppresed a lot of his guilt and hurt and I think the character is brilliantly given depth and life from Josh Holloway.
He does have his hate him moments but I cant say ive ever got tired of seeing him in any episode.
