When Sayid pushes Ben into the bushes do you think he could hear what they were talking about.
If I overheard the conversation that Jin and Sayid had I would think they knew each other. If little Bens survives, do you think he is going to question the losties or blackmail them into doing bad things in the 70s?

I didn't think about him blackmailing Jin later on but I wondered if he could understand what was said between Sayid and Jin as well.

I really hope we don't see young Ben manipulating our Losties in '77...I think I'd find that cheesy.

thats the first thing I thought of after it happened- could he hear them? Sayid just pushed him out of sight and had no idea who was coming up in that van..Then he just started talking to Jin. Ben could have easily overheard them I supposed, although I tend to believe that Sayid is smarter than that. It will tick me off if Ben heard everything, survives, and ends up using it against them one way or another

i didn't mean it would tick me off like "how could ben do that?!" . i was basically saying that I can't stand Ben and everything he does ticks me off. i figure he is going to screw with them one way or another

I don't understand why Ben has been so surpised to hear that Jin was alive.
I assumed that it must have been because he somehow never met Jin in Dharma time. But that seems more and more unlikely. Phil is one of LaFleur's men and Ben greets him like he's pretty well acquainted with him. Jin has been part of LaFleur's crew for three years, and I see no particular reason why Ben wouldn't have known him, too.
After watching the end of "He's our you", it became a complete mystery to me why he wouldn't remember Jin. Yes, maybe he didn't see him too well from a distance and in the dark, but kid Ben did realize that LaFleur had been called. If he heard that, it only fair to assume that he had heard Sayid call out to Jin by name, too. Little Ben has met Jin, and in a moment that should be burned into his memory.
It makes no sense to me that Ben was so taken aback by the fact that Jin was alive.
