View Full Version : Is Ben a ghost?
adfuller 03-29-2009, 05:06 PM I don't know if anyone's suggested this before, but I'm wondering if adult Ben has been a ghost all along, like Christian, and now Claire Perhaps that's why Widmore sent Miles (a ghost hunter) to the island along with the team to find Ben? Was it Sayid's destiny to kill child Ben?
Automission 03-29-2009, 05:32 PM the time line loops, if he's alive in the future he can't be dead in the past.

My point was maybe he's not alive in the future. Maybe we've been seeing a ghost all along.
ManOfScience6 03-29-2009, 06:07 PM Well here's the thing...
Ben has been touched by, beaten, grabbed, etc. by a bunch of the losties and has tangibly picked up objects whereas we have yet to see Christian do any of these things. Now unless Ben has Swayze teaching him how to do all of these things in a subway, I don't see how Ben is a ghost.

We've seen Christian pick things up, such as lanterns, and a photo on a wall in the episode, "Namaste." Yes, it's true that Ben has been beat up and even had back surgery done on him, but we don't know yet what the "rules" are for these ghosts, i.e. what they can and can't do...or the nature of their physical bodies.

Yup, and ghosts don't grow up from being a kid to an adult. They stay whatever age they died in.

I agree with you on all counts. I think Sayid just stunned Ben cause they have been known to use those dart guns but then again we would have seen the dart in child ben's chest.

Yah, that's true. I believe that Ben is not a ghost and is still alive. Little Ben is either not dead or will be resurrected.
widmorefan 03-29-2009, 07:46 PM i think little ben is dead. and i also think that big ben is on a different "string". it is a different line of people and experiences.
adfuller 03-29-2009, 08:01 PM I also doubt he's a ghost, but I'm just throwing it out there as a possibility. Like I said, it could explain why Miles was sent to get Ben. It might also explain what Ben meant when he told Sayid he knew he was a killer, and what Sayid meant when he said he knew now what his purpose was for coming back to the island. It might also explain how Ben is able to get from Iraq to Los Angeles to New York to Santa Domingo to Moscow so quickly.
BillToons 03-29-2009, 08:29 PM It's an interesting thought considering the Miles thing. So far it has not really been explained why they needed Miles' ability to talk to the dead. The only thing he's done with that power is to find the bodies Danille and Carl. One could conclude that was not the only reason he was sent there. The other thing was when Ben met up with Widmore in his penthouse, he said I know what you are. Not who but what. Interesting choice of words.

That's another good point.
Has Miles ever come into contact with Ben? I don't recall.
Captain Fuzzbottom 03-29-2009, 09:49 PM Miles attempted to extort 3.2 million dollars from Ben.
I don't think Ben is a ghost, Miles said to him, "I know who you are." I don't think Christian is a ghost either. He was resurrected just like Locke and has prior history with island, as does Jack's grandfather.
Adam118 03-30-2009, 02:05 AM I'm just gonna wait a couple weeks and see if this is addressed. Have fun speculating y'all :)
MiniMe 03-30-2009, 11:28 AM Do ghosts bleed? Ben has had the sh*t kicked out of him several times now, and left bloodied and bruised. I don't think that Ben is a ghost.

He was probably sent to talk to the dead Dharma folk, to find out what happened really.
