The SV episodes Ian was in were terrible. Absolutely terrible. He was GREAT in them and he acted the hell out of a severely inconsistent role, but the story arc itself is incomprehensible and bad because they tried to "tweak" it halfway through the six ep arc, ended up re-conceiving the entire character, and just basically screwed Ian over in a major way. He talks a little about it on his web site and Michael Rosenbaum has spoken a little about it too.

Ian was also treated very badly by the producers, who used (still use) his character as a scapegoat for slipping ratings which had been an issue since the middle of the previous season. The 2 producers - who have a very very bad reputation for treating MANY of their actors like crap - badmouth Ian frequently and blame him for many non-existent ills to this day. They ridiculously claim he had no chemistry with the leading actress, who is infamous for her terrible acting throughout the fandom. Absurdly on all the major message boards he's often named as the only male character to HAVE any chemistry with her. The fans loved him. Loved.

He was excellent but the production team blame him for the bad writing something which I find inexplicable. They also included the most unflattering blooper reel of him imaginable on the DVD. Honestly the Ian-SV fiasco put me off the whole show, and I used to be a huge fan, so it's not as much fun for me to watch that.

And yet I read in an article that the SV PTB are wanting him to ressurect that very character. Maybe they should make up their ever-lovin minds before they say bad things about him. ::)

I read that too on DarkHorizons, but they're not super reliable with information like that, and the person had just heard it from another journalist.

Ian would ask for a LOT more money. SV is a LOT more broke this year. TPTB can't stand him and it's mutual. His character on SV was killed off on screen. I don't think there's any weight to that rumor - or if there is, I'll be really really surprised.

I for one was disappointed when Ian's character was killed off, although I only wish Lana had been killed off instead! I'm really happy they stopped trying to make Clark and Lana hook up on the show because she is extremely annoying... however, that is just a tangent.

It would be cool if they brought the character of Adam back, but I don't see how they could. I predict that Smallville will be off the air in the next couple of years, since WB is currently in production for the new Superman movie. Especially since they hired Kate Bosworth to play Lois Lane, and she isn't so much older than the Lois Lane they have on the show now. They'd have a lot of contradictions.

I'm a big fan of Smallville, but I never knew that the producers treated their guest stars terribly. As Andrea said, I loved Ian as Adam. I personally don't like Lana at all, and Kristen Kreuk is ok. Sometimes her acting isn't the greatest. I wish Adam's storyline had been more developed because they killed him off rather quickly. There's so much they could've done.

Ian's character gets killed off on SV too?* Well, hot damn.

Kidding ...

I've never really watched SV.* My kids aren't into it, and they have control of the remote, so we basically live on ESPN anyway.* But, since we have cable and ABC Family is rerunning the episodes in a timeslot before the games on the all-sports/all-the-time channel start, I got to see part of one episode yesterday.

I freely admit that I'm only watching it for Ian, and I'll stop watching when his guest spot is over.* I haven't a clue as to what's going on anyway.* All I really did was read my book and look up when my kids let me know that "Boone is on."

It sounds as if this stint on SV was a less than stellar experience for him.* And the PTB's actually put the blame for falling ratings on a guest star?* From what little I've watched of SV, Kristen Kreuk doesn't seem to have much chemistry with anyone.* *

I admit I watched for Ian as well(I have never even seen more than 5 minutes of this show while channel-surfing). However, I think I got a 2 for one deal out of it anyway. I was like :o when I saw Jesse Metclaf from Desparate Housewives was on it too. Those 2 hotties were well worth the hour I had to spend to watch it. :)

And he was shirtless to boot. :) That was well worth the painful experience I had to endure to watch Ian.
