The scene with Richard and Widmore was very interesting. It seemed like Richard threw out the "Jacob wanted me to do it" (in taking Ben to the temple). Reminded me of how a little kid would say it if his hands were caught in the cookie jar. And the look Widmore gave him was priceless. Looked a little bit like "Oh, really, isn't he cute".

I'm really dying to learn more about this Richard/Jacob/Others relationship.

It definitely seemed that. Richard probably knows he can get away with almost anything if he mentions it was Jacob's idea, as no one questions Jacob.
