We have seen a lot of different people on the island in the past. I don't think once we have seen any of these people/Others, or even a mention of their names:

Tom
Mikhail
Danny
Harper
Goodwin
Bea

Mikhail says he was on the island during the purge, or the incident, I cannot remember. So shouldn't we have at least seen someone who resembles any of them? Are we supposed to believe that they all came to the island right before Juliet did? Seems kind of odd.

Ever since we first saw this guy (http://gallery.lost-media.com/displayimage-1481-33.html), I've been saying he's the younger Tom, aka Mr. Friendly.
The credits show him as "Bram" which imo is an amalgam of the actor's name (Brad William Henke) and Tom. We've not yet heard his real character name.
Beyond the name and semi-plausible physical resemblance, there are other things, such as the description in the casting call for the character, that reminded me of Tom.

And yes, I know "Bram" landed in 2007, but I think he'll find his way back to 1977 or thereabouts (probably later) and become a Ben follower...

I actually think it's quite possible that none of them were on the Island in the past (1977). Ben sais that most of the Others in 2004 are there because he bought them there. I think that around the time the Others moved into the barracks there was a shake up of Others members. I don't think Widmore was the only one to leave on the sub, afterall Richard sais " you don't have to see them off". I think Ben got rid of anybody he wasn't particularily keen on and maybe a few others choose to defect - perhaps they disagreed with the purge.

After that I think Ben and Richard went on a recruitment mission for new members. In 2004 Mikhail sais that he came to the Island 11 years ago so that would make sense - a year after the purge. I know that he also talks about being around for the purge but I think he was probably lying at that point.

i agree that the dude next to richard is tom. i watched him and it was necessary for the writers to have him sitting next to richard so he could be in full view. he looks anywhere between 30 and 40. so, i'm going with him!

I've been hoping we'd see a younger Tom working for Dharma. In season 3 when Sawyer figured out how to get a fish biscuit in the bear cage, Tom told him that it only took the bears 2 hours. How would he know that?

Tom looks to be around 40 in 2004, which would make him only 13 in 1977, still a teenager. He was probably recruited sometime after the Purge.

Brad william henke is actually playing an Ajira survivor...hes on the beach with ilana ...
