Also, Is there proof that Dr. Chang is a real doctor and not an Actor? How did Jughead get where it is now, was it a dud before 1954 and the island moving moved it to 1954, was it lost in time via the Bermuda Triangle theory? how was it hoisted that far up, by a bevy of pyramid builders? Why was it hoisted and why even move something like that? So many simple questions that should be addressed. I've always believed Ben and Charles are playing a 'can you top this game' control of the island is the prize along with bragging rights, that's not to say there isn't something special about the island, thats why B/C are at war.
This last epi. "SLIH" and Bram's statement to Miles (paraphrasing) " because you are on the losing team" or something similiar certainly denotes an irreverent attitude to something very serious, which also denotes a game mantality. The sideshow implications are very apparent, even Ben telling John that Charles wants to expoit the island. The Mystery Spot of all Mystery Spots. What a scam. Who said there's a sucker born evey minute? (paraphrasing)

Wouldn't it be so much fun to have LOST be something this simple? It will be the unproverbial shot heard around the world.

Jughead was presumably hoisted by the US Army.
The same people who brought it to the Island, I thought that part was spelled out quite clearly.

And why would the numbers be merely a serial number if they are the same numbers that are on the automated broadcast and they are also entered into the computer? I would say they mean something more than a random serial number.

I believe there is a thought that numbers are given power by the people who believe in that power. Hurley believes they are unlucky because some bad things happened to him after using the numbers... who is to say that those events wouldn't have happened regardless? Albeit not in the same way but the idea being that they didn't happen because of the numbers. So the numbers are really just that, numbers and we as humans will associate certain numbers with certain events which aren't really related anywhere but in our mind.
Some people believe that bad things will happen on a Friday the 13th... or there are people who are afraid when they buy something for $6.66. So even if the number just originated from a serial number that's okay... but the reason those numbers have power is still coming up and we will be given a much deeper explanation than they are just some serial numbers... and I think they might have to do with Hurley. Someone in another post was pointing out that the number 7 has been brought up on the show a lot recently... I don't think it has much to do with anything... then again H is the 7th letter in the American English alphabet... :)

And I don't think it would be much fun if Lost had a simple ending... I mean... I guess it'd be cool because it'd be easier to follow, but as a peruser of these boards and a writer it would be unsatisfactory if TPTB did not craft an ending that not only blew people away but encouraged debate for years to come! I'd probably still watch it again though... but it might be a little less "Wow!" ya know?

Corporate manslaughter I’ll buy, conspiracy I’ll consider – just, but curses? No.
I even have an explanation for the Numbers. No, I don’t know what they’re for, but in terms of hatch covers, transmissions, and guys gone nuts: the correlation between hatch cover and computer looks to be nothing more than a part number – so the Roger Workmen of the original construction and outfitting team knew what went where.

I was pretty close! (appalling form searching yourself I'm sure - but I don't care! Mwahhahhahhahhah!) It even looked like I imagined it in my mind's eye - almost.

Big Up to all the character Rewinders out there - I know you're putting in a lot of hours trying to draw LOST's thread together.

The infamous numbers are not a serial number,
but that worker at the Swan thinks that's all they are.
Obviously, he's not an inner circle kind a guy.

I think its a ID number for the reactor they are building in the Swan, incase there is a incident and they Loose it. That way in the future someone sitting in a Ice Station might be able to find it.

I hope so!

I'm currently working on a gravity hole theory that the number 4 would fit right in.

I guess I was wondering why it was even there. Was it made there and why? The numbers to me are like a song you hear in the morning and can't get it out of your head for days, maybe like some trigger for a hypnotic suggestion to kick in. In S2, Michael told John that the computer (numbers) was not what he thought, an incomplete clue for us.

If it's really a "serial number" does that mean that they actually built another 4,815,162,341 "hatches" on the island somewhere?

With the time loop, it was just the 4815162342 time they were doing it. :eek2:

Knowing what we know now than the numbers could be a locating system for Jughead? Isn't that where Jughead is buried?
