As I was walking the dog and "digesting" the show I started thinking....if Dan is Ellie ( and Charles') kid, he must be an infant in the Hostiles camp during the 1977 time frame.

It got me thinking have we ever seen a true Hostile child - one born of two parents that are natives on the island? Or do they get their kids the way we have seen them in the past - kidnapping babies that come to the island. Was Daniel maybe a victim of one of these kidnappings????! Maybe?

Because if Daniel is a Hostile baby, why is he off island going to school at Oxford? Why does he not seem to know his father? And why for heavens sake would his parents want him to go back to the island, so he can get killed?

This is all making my brain hurt...I think I need a constant!!!

I think the question should be why Widmore and Hawking *do* have British accents.

I can only assume that Eloise left the island with Daniel when he was still very young, and they lived in the United States while he grew up, hence his Americanized accent.

My hunch is that Daniel is the biological child of Eloise and Charles and the producers don't want us to be bothered by the fact that he has deep brown eyes while both his parents have blue eyes. Considering we only have about 18 episodes left of this show. In other words, I don't think he'll turn out to be adopted or kidnapped or secretly the biological son of Richard or someone else with deep brown eyes.

Something sure doesn't add up. If Dan was born and then lived on the Island, he should have been getting nosebleeds around the same time as Charlotte and Miles, but he didn't even start to get one. If he was born on the Island, it would answer the accent issue since he would have been raised around people who weren't speaking with an accent, besides Ellie and Charles.

However, I think he was born off the Island and raised off the Island, and not necessarily by Widmore and Hawking much. If they weren't around much in his childhood, and he loved in the US or Canada, he wouldn't develop an accet, and it would also explain the no nosebleeds.
