I just rewatched it and realized that Dan's girlfriend when he graduates is Theresa as in soon to be vegatative Theresa?

Yeah. No offence, but thought that was pretty obvious! :) That contributes to his own sad state before the island, as well as the experiments on himself.

It will be interesting to find out what all Daniel said to young Charlotte. Didn't she say in one episode that she thought she met him when she was a child? If so, then using the WHH theory, he was always destined to talk to her. Using TV theory, perhaps he is trying to get her to not come to the Island when she's an adult.

I thought there was a scene where we saw him talking to her from a distance, but we didn't hear what he said. I could be wrong.
