'Fess up, who else cried?

Such a great little moment - my hopes of Claire and/or Aaron one day getting the ring are rekindled! :)

If anyone will get that ring to Claire and Aaron, it'll be Sun.

I am disappointed that we didn't see Claire in the season finale, but with that little scene, I know that TPTB have not forgotten such an important character and her love.

I was beyond happy - that ring meant alot to Charlie, and I thought it was lost forever when they left the beach.

Great Finale touch !

Yeah, I'm really happy they didn't just forget about the ring - I know I was yelling at my TV when everyone headed off, leaving it behind.

Yeah, it was a nice little nod to Charlie/Claire. And Jack brought up Claire too which was nice. In other words, we will certainly be seeing her next season which is good!

Me too! I was so happy when we saw it!

That was nice. I thought it was gonna get lost when Claire didn't see it in season threes end.

Maybe they have plotted out Claire's arc more than they've let on.

As soon as I saw the crib I was like, "The RING, Sun! Find the ring!!" and then when she actually did find it I definitely teared up a bit. I'm SO glad that someone finally found it.

When Sun noticed the crale I had this feeling she would find Charlie's ring. It was a great shout out to our favorite Bloody Rockstar!

Now Sun Kwon is in possesion of two rings...Jin's wedding ring and the now infamous Drive Shaft ring which I predict Sun will give to Clarie eventually...

I was thrilled and clapping when she turned the cradle over and there was the Drive Shaft ring. A great moment!! Yeah, there was a tear or two as well. ;)

As well as serving as a wonderful reminder of Charlie tucking the ring in the cradle, this scene was also a nice segue into the next scene of Sun and Jin exchanging their rings. Beautifully done.

Charlie's ring has been one of those things that have stuck with me since he laid it in the crib so long ago. I am so glad to see that they didn't forget!

To Charlie!

A nice little touch by the writers.

I knew she was going to find it as soon as she spotted the cradle. So glad Charlie is not forgotten and someday Claire will get it.

I also thought it was an interesting device. Sun finds the ring and probably thinks a moment on the doomed Charlie/Claire romance and then probably wonders how her own story will turn out and we get her wedding flashback.

I'm on board with all those who were thrilled when the DS ring was found. I think that scene was also very efectively poignant because of unLocke: he made that cradle for baby Aaron on Claire's birthday, and it was such a lovely scene between them. It was a very telling contrast with unLocke's behavior the past few episodes, including his "I don't care about my people" comment.

I cried! I'm probably one of the biggest Charlie fans out there and I was absolutely devastated when the ring was just left, and didn't reach its destination. It was so important to Charlie and him leaving it to Aaron was such a special thing. Arr, I'm tearing up just thinking about it!
I was worried they were just going to leave it as a representation of how Charlie was often overlooked and forgotten.
I hope Sun manages to give it to Claire, and I bloody well hope Claire cries! She's just not upset enough about Charlies death IMO. If he'd been my sort-of boyfriend-thing, I'd still be mourning. I AM still mourning!!

I'd actually mostly forgotten about the ring -- or rather I'd forgotten that it was forgotten. When she picked it up I freaked out and thought, holy crap! Why hadn't anyone found that freaking ring until now!?

They left it too long - I'd actually forgotten all about the ring even when I saw this scene! It's only this forum that reminded me...

Great moment! Very touching. As soon as I saw Aaron's crib, I yelled out "Charlie's ring!"

NOW if we could only get Charlie's "Greatest Hits" list to show up..........

Sun finding the ring wasn't for sentimental value so the fans could saw awwwwww. Everything happens for a reason.
I forgot about this but the DS stands for Dexter Stratton. Maybe the dude having the conversation next to Jacob is Dexter Stratton in the flesh.

ok here's a stretch the same actor who played wife-beating Paul from Dexter is Jacob.

Lol. No, that's what should be expected of them. If fans can keep track of this stuff, what about the people whose job it is write this stuff? I mean, they get paid for it!

I thought the discovery of the ring came too late and it felt like they just threw it in there cause they knew some people were upset about it.It was pretty much an afterthought.

If Sun and Clare meet up, maybe the ring will be the impetus that knocks Clare out of the detached state she appeared to be in.

I certainly cried, if for no other reason than relief! I'm so glad that Sun found it. It does give hope for Clair,Aaron, and even Charlie. I also think it may help sun, if Charlie is (*sniffle) dead but here and was able to communicate with Hurley then maybe he will reach out to Sun and help her get back with Jin.

The most important thing for me? The DS ring wasn't dropped or lose it's significance like the greatest hits list, or the numbers.

I forgot the ring was in the crib, so I wasn't expecting Sun to find it, just to be thinking of Ji Yeon and little Aaron...and when she found the ring, it was so perfect, the flood of memories came back. It was so nice that they brought it back.

I didn't cry when the ring came back, but I teared up when it segued to Sun and Jin telling their vows to each other and Jin said what it would be like if they were ever apart...so sad.

I do wonder if it foreshadows the return of Claire, and maybe even Charlie, in some form.

I remember being very disappointed that Claire never saw the ring before. But thank goodness the writers remembered, and hopefully, we will get to see Sun give the ring to Claire in the final season.

I believe the ring's purpose was to remind the audience that Claire's story isn't done yet - that and Jack's speaking of her to Kate. They weren't just wrapping up this season - they are setting up for next, and it looks like Claire may be a prominent player.

Of course, the ring also reminds us of Charlie, as does that guitar case that Hugo keeps lugging around.

That and the guitar that Hurley has...

Don't make me get my hopes up! I couldn't stand it if they were dashed. I might have a breakdown.

I'm not so sure about him being Esau, but I have no doubt that Dexter Stratton will come into play in the mythology, and I'm guessing he has a part on the Black Rock. I've always thought that the design of the ring reflected the four points of the compass or four corners of the earth, signifying that he was an explorer.

I thought the discovery of the ring came too late and it felt like they just threw it in there cause they knew some people were upset about it.It was pretty much an afterthought.
Lol. The boy has no patience, Obi-Wan. The story is a long and involved tapestry. Bringing back threads just when most people are forgetting they exist is precisely the way to do it. A six-year story takes a long time to tell, but, that's kind of the point isn't it?

The story is a long and involved tapestry.

Yeah, and it'd be nice if they didn't keep messing up on the weaving.

But I do get what you are saying. Unfortunately, instead of doing something like you said, we get to see them throw stuff out there, have it wait for a couple of years, and then come back to it if they ever feel like it.

This is foreshadowing of Charlies's return, IMO.

IMO it is foreshadowing that we will be seeing Claire soon, so Sun can give her the ring. (Of course by soon, I don't mean soon in real time, as we won't be seeing anything soon :frown:, but show time, within the next few episodes.)

But I do get what you are saying. Unfortunately, instead of doing something like you said, we get to see them throw stuff out there, have it wait for a couple of years, and then come back to it if they ever feel like it.

I feel for what what you're saying. I got to watch the first two seasons watching two episodes per night every night. It is much better that way. When Dickens wrote Our Mutual Friend as a serialized story published in a magazine, there was the same frustration on the part of the fans, as well as the accusations of "making it up as he goes along". But to those who can now read the work on their own, without the long interruptions, those criticisms seem absurd.

This is not the natural way for a human being to have to wait for a story to play out. But it is a good exercise in patience. I wish I had the patience to wait until it is all over and watch the final season all at once. I toyed with the idea of doing that this season. I'm not sure I have that kind of patience in me. Besides, I'd miss out on most the discussions, and there would be a high risk of getting spoiled.

Do you really think Dexter Stratton will be important? I hadn't even given him a second thought... until now.
Definitely. I'd give it 20:1 odds that he's on the Black Rock.

IMO it is foreshadowing that we will be seeing Claire soon, so Sun can give her the ring.

Yes, among other things. I also thought it was maybe a reminder that Charlie could be spared from death if Jack's plan works... And a symbolic way to let the audience know that the writers haven't forgotten about the Charlie/Claire/Aaron storyline and will be wrapping it up in some sort of satisfactory way in the final season.

The whole thing with the Charlie's ring and the conversation between Jack and Kate about Claire tells us that we will see her soon! I'm wondering which side is she on.... Light or Dark?

Wow, Dexter Stratton on the Black Rock? How cool would that be?

I can't wait for Claire, Aaron, and hopefully Charlie to be weaved back in. I so miss them all.

And yes, I was yelling at the TV for Sun to find the ring, and then cried when she did.

It was a really lovely seeing that ring again. Sun will make sure that Claire gets the ring once she is found.
