At the start of the epi it seems pretty certain the ship off the coast was the Black Rock. It also seems that Jacob predates the Black Rock since he was sitting on the beach waiting for it to come. This means Jacob was not a member of the this ship as many have theorized. Okay, fine, that question is answered. My big question is who was the man who spoke to Jacob on the beach?

Any insight?

The Black Rock was already, apparently, in a long list of things pulled to the island by Jacob. I want to know what came even before then! Apparently the Egyptians...

Seems that Ricardus may have come to the Island via the Black Rock.

With the name Ricardus... he was probably there long before that. Think Ancient Rome.

Also how the hell does the Black Rock end up in the middle of the jungle? And why is it full of skeletons if Jacob was summoning those people to the island???

Yeah, those are questions that I can't imagine an answer to at this point

If this was the Black Rock, then its a good possibility a lot of people on the ship died when it crashed but a few lived. The ones that Jacob wanted to come to the island may have been the only survivors. How they got to the middle of the jungle, no clue unless the other guy was some how responsible for that, since he didn't want them there in the first place.

Wasn't it a Hanso that was the captain of the ship?

Perhaps he was one of the "touched by Jacob" folks - after all if he was sailing a slave ship - he would need a little redeeming ...LOL....
as with flight 815, all the non essential (to Jacob) folks just die - hence the skeletons

The skeletons i guess were not on Jacob's List. ;)

How it ends up in the middle of the island I don't think we'll ever know. Just one of those things that is so incredible it needs no explanation.
