So we have Jacob handing Hurley a guitar case, but we still don't know if there is a guitar in it!

My best guess is that we will see Charlie again in season 6, maybe Hurley and co. jump to 2004 where Hurley leaves the case for Charlie to find in the jungle?

Any guesses on what's up with that case?

I didn't think there was really anything to this except that Hurley would be a proxy for Charlie. Like Locke with Christian's shoes, Sayid in handcuffs (Kate) or Sun with the wedding ring (Rose), Hurley bringing a guitar helped to recreate the conditions of flight 815. If that's the case (no pun intended!) it's probably just a guitar. The real question is, can Hurley play "You All Everybody"???

I had the same kind of thought, that Hurley would somehow leave the case for Charlie - assuming of course, that it's a guitar. Darlton better not just be screwing with me, getting my hopes up that I'll see Charlie again.
I definitely think that the case, guitar inside or not, is significant, and we'll see it again.

Obviously, we have not seen the last of it.

There has to be something of great importance inside. Perhaps Jacob's "loophole" to the "loophole"?

Any ideas?

Well Jacob left it there for Hurley for some reason. And Hurley was the only one Jacob talked to about the island and asked him to come back. And he made a point of telling Hurley he wasn't crazy but blessed. I still say Hurley is the key to all this.

There is something about a musical instrument in a case. The shipwrecked Frenchies had a violin, 815 had Charlie's guitar in a case, and 316 had Jacob's guitar/case carried by Hurley - assuming that what's inside the case Jacob left for Hurley is a guitar.

Jacob left it with Hurley because he knew he would die, and when he did he would need Hurley to take his instructions.

Charlies going to find that guitar case while walking with Locke in the jungle while ironically talking about it and the islands power to give something when one makes a sacrifice.

And of course to replicate the flight as closely as possible.

That would be awesome!

Considering that scene happened in epi 1x06 :o

Makes you wonder if it was Locke or Anti-Locke that was walking with Charlie that day....

Well, whatever is inside that guitar case, it must have been okay to have passed through Airport Security, so that eliminates a lot of things it could be.

In "Through The Looking Glass" when Bonnie tells Charlie the code to turn off the jammer she says that it was programmed by a musician. Hurley had visions of Charlie telling him that he had to return to the island long before Ben, Jack and Jacob came along to tell him that. Maybe whoever the musician is that programs the code won't become a musician unless Hurley gives him the guitar.

It should be obvious: Jake needs the O6ers to collect artifacts of Charlie in order for Jake to take Charlie's body. The resemblance is there...I have a thread on it in the general theories area.

Maybe the guitar case has already served its purpose.

When the 06 flash back to the seventies Hurley ends up in the water struggling to stay above water. Jack hears him and races off to save him.

What if Hurley didn't have the case with him? Would he have drowned? He may not have been able to stay afloat to shout for help

But Hurley takes it with him when rushing to get out of Dharmaville too! Thus,it has to play a role next season.
I believe it has something to do with saving Claire along with the DS ring. Aaron will get that ring in the end, I feel sure! : )

All he had to do was stand up! isn't that what jack said?
Besides if it was only intended as a life preserver why not give him a floatie, why a guitar case. No it has to be something about Charlie. I'll be mad if it isn't.

Woudn't be suprised, especially if the detonation of the jughead resulted in a re-boot.

This might be the most practical thing ever written in these forums.
Who are you, and how did you find this place?

If Jughead triggers a reboot, then how did the guitar get there? Hurley wouldn't have come back on the Aijira flight with the guitar, because none of this will have ever happened. Right?

Maybe it's the same guitar that Charlie had on the Island all along, although that would mean that Hurley left it in 1977 and the guitar Charlie and Locke found was actually 30 years older, and a different guitar to the one that Charlie took on the flight... meaning that Charlies original guitar was destroyed in the crash and Jacob gave him a replacement, but surely there would have been an easier way to do this rather than give Hurley a guitar to bring to the past with him. Dunno, just thinking out loud (in a sense...)

it would been there for about 30 years, it would be all old, and the case might be coming apart
it is a tropical island

Yeah this is true. I honestly don't think that all they have planned for the case is it being found by Charlie after 815 crashes. I think it's something more important. I was just rambling.
