The CW just picked up this pilot for the fall season where it will replace Smallville in the time slot before Supernatural.

It's based on a series of teen books about two vampire brothers - one good, one evil - who are in some sort of love triangle with a human high school girl.

Elena will be played by Nina Dobrev (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm2400045/), Stefan (good vampire) by Paul Wesley (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0913587/) and the evil vampire brother Damon will be played Ian Somerhalder (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0813812/).

Kevin Williamson (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0932078/) (Scream, Dawson's Creek) co-wrote the pilot eppy and Marcos Siega (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0796864/) (True Blood) directed.

Pilot was good. I haven't read the books so I didn't know what to expect . I was pleasantly surprised. Though I was mainly here for Ian. I think they will do a good job with the series. They sound like they have a plan for the series. Let's hope the cw don't make them change it much.

Tonight's the night indeed! I'm so nervous, it's not even funny anymore.

SOOOO .. I liked it!

Not enough Damon/Ian but just enough to get me excited about next week. I enjoyed the set up of the characters and think this series has a lot of potential.

this series start was awesome. i LOVED how they set it up.

Ian was fabulous. :biggrin: look forward to seeing more of him as bad boy Damon.

I am very pleased with this pilot. Of course it's a little heard for me to be neutral and objective here (Ian :wub: ) but I thought it was really well done, all the actors did a great job and OMG did I mention I just love Ian as a badass character? :wub: Snarky Ian is always a plus and it never ceases to amaze me that such a truly nice guy and gentleman can play evil so well.

Ahem... back to the show... I thought the pilot was a really good introduction into the world of Mystic Falls and their people and I can't wait to see where they're going from here. I've read the books, so I know a thing or two but they've changed quite a few things, so this will be interesting to see.

Didn't think I would but I liked the edition of Elena's brother and his story with Vicky. The scene in the hospital was really touching.

Im definitely going to be watching the entire series. Ian was fantastic in it, and I cant wait to see him more. He was soooo badass and he plays it well! I like the casting, obviously Ian but also the girl that plays Elena.

Im also glad that these Vamps can be in the sun thanks to their rings :biggrin:

fwiw, i think the sleazy reporter guy is horrible. i cant figure out if he is trying to just be a bad actor or it is how he chose to play the character.

i do like the rather odd direction they are going with the storyline. it is not in the books quite like the series, which is a good thing.

i am still trying to sort out the ending events from last night's eppy. when the annoying reporter guy showed up, it made me wonder WHO turned him b/c i was pretty sure Damon drained him dry. which then leads me to think that the crystal is superfluous to bringing back Katherine. kind of like a red herring. ;) i think she has already "escaped" whatever spell Emily used to save her and is now exacting her revenge on the brothers. the comment by Stefan or was it Damon? :71: about Katherine being evil or something. of course none of the spoiler fonted content was in the books so i am only speculating what may come next.

Love this show, my fav new show this year.

Ian is mad, its so much better than twilight, sorry to those who like it. But the story for me is more belivable in VD than Twilight.

OMG...I can't wait for the new season to start! Now I admit I was a huge Sawyer fan when I watched Lost, didn't think Boone was that cute but my oh my.....Ian on TVD is amazing and oh so very HOT! I am supposed to go to a convention next April so I really hope he doesn't cancel out!
