I'm assuming that the process we witnessed for Sayid's healing in the Temple's pool is the exact same process which young Ben experienced in 1977. If so, then Sayid should have the same side efffects that Ben does.
1) becoming an Other
2) forgetting the immediate events that led to him being injured
3) losing his innocence
Although I think that last one was done away with a long time ago. But now that we've seen the pool, it helps to explain why young Ben did not become an automaton like Danielle's team members. I had assumed that it was the Smoke Monster that healed Ben, but now I think it's safe to assume it was the pool.
I definitely feel they had indicated young Ben was taken to the Temple for healing. The question with Sayid is, however, did he actually die? If so, maybe his body is being taken over by someone like Jacob, perhaps.

I think we have a redeemed Sayid saved by Jacob. This could mean he is more passive, not the old Sayid. Whatever he is Jacob really needs him so he sent him to the temple. I think he'll play an important role this year, whoever he is.

Since the water was murky - maybe Sayid doesn't lose his entire memory.

I'm not ready to get on the "Sayid is now Jacob" wagon either, but I'm not going to discount it yet. I'm guessing that the OP is right in saying that we're seeing what happened to Ben, and it will be very important for the season to come. The brown water though... something was definitely wrong with it, otherwise they wouldn't have had Lennon point it out. I'm guessing that we'll be seeing those repercussions as well, and they probably won't be good. :undecide:

I am willing to flat out discount the possibility that Sayid is Jacob. I don't believe Jacob would under any circumstance ask "What happened?" even in a confused wake up stupor... he did say "What happened?" right? I think he did anyway... whatever was said... it didn't seem very Jacobish to me! But I am ready to be proven wrong, so on with the season!

I just keep having a feeling there is more gods at play.
Im going out on a limb and say...Sayid is a resurrection of another god.

What happened to Sayid is what happened to MIB many years ago. Sayid is smoke.

What happened to Sayid is what happened to MIB many years ago. Sayid is smoke.
The previous Sayid is "smoke". If smoke can be wet. I mean he's toast. You want to play dead, Sayid? Sure, we'll "help". Then notice how they started a fight to distract everyone while a new Sayid was substituted for the old one.The only other good explanation would be the use of the drug -- you know, the one that was said to have come from a spider and can produce a temporary state similar enough to death to fool a doctor. Perhaps the previous Sayid was just told that was what would be done to him, but he was then drowned and the new Sayid substituted.
