View Full Version : Lefties or Righties or Ambidextrous
Hiram 12-07-2004, 11:07 AM In my continuing efforts to compile a demographic of the LOST
viewing and computer posting public I am listing this poll.
Please, if you feel I have left some option out or worded it badly let me know.* Thanks!
* :santa:
Smidge 12-07-2004, 11:23 AM I do everything right handed with one exception. I play hockey lefty. Go figure.
Tari Luinwe 12-08-2004, 10:12 PM I can write with both hands. I always thought it was a cool thing to do so I taught myself to. Can you tell I had no life when I was really young lmao.
Tari Luinwe 12-08-2004, 10:13 PM I can write with both hands. I always thought it was a cool thing to do so I taught myself to. Can you tell I had no life when I was really young lmao.
Hiram 12-09-2004, 12:15 AM Let me guess, you must be able to type with both hands too! :lol2:
:santa:
Tari Luinwe 12-09-2004, 06:15 PM lol Yup!! :P :P :P
Varda 12-09-2004, 06:45 PM i usually write with my right, but i can with my left. i always type with my left, unless im eating or something.
tari- i taught myself too... im weird with how i always like to have both sides of things being equal (i hate driving, the streetlights are always stressing my one eye more than the other)
AprilT 12-09-2004, 09:17 PM I can write with both hands.* I always thought it was a cool thing to do so I taught myself to.* Can you tell I had no life when I was really young lmao.
I did the same thing. I always wanted to be prepared in case I ever broke my arm! (I was a real tomboy)
LearnToFly 12-11-2004, 05:27 PM I'm right handed, but I can also sorta kinda write with my foot. (Not well)
JustAnotherRockGod 12-14-2004, 01:47 AM I'm a righty...I don't think my left hand even functions. One time I had to draw a picture of a house with my left hand in psychology...it looked like a squiggle with ears.
JennieJamJar 12-14-2004, 07:27 AM I'm cross-dominant. Write with my right, kick with my right, eat and look through telescopes with my left. Heh.
Actually, I can kick with left or right, I think. Loooong time since I kicked a ball properly. But I'm a dancer, so, I can kick with both.
Nanse 12-16-2004, 07:04 PM Ambidextrous.
Where are all our left-handed people?* Have you ever noticed the large percentage of actors and musicians that are left-handed???
I'm one! Lefty and proud of it!!! I still shudder, though, at the though of the dull, rusty, lefty scissors with the loose screw that I was always forced to use in elementary school. What lefties are put through! ;D
Hiram 12-17-2004, 12:04 AM Preach on Nanse we lefties have always been discriminated against!
I think we should file for recriminations for all of the pain and suffering
we had to overcome to make it this right handed society!
Are all you Lefties with me? There are supposed to be about ten-twelve
percent of the population that are Lefties. Thats 30 million plus in the
United States alone!
Take from here Nanse
Nanse 12-17-2004, 11:43 AM I'm with you!! Lefties UNITE!!
No more should we should we suffer the pains from right handed scissors. Nor more should we go in search for an ergonomic mouse only to be told that the stores only carry them for right handed people! No more coffeee mugs that have the handle aligned with the pattern in favor of right handers! Stop the handed discrimination!!!
;D Oh dear! You really shouldn't encourage me Hiram Abif. ;D
WhiteSapphire 12-17-2004, 11:48 AM I'm right-handed, but that may be my grandmother's fault. I remember grabbing a crayon once with my left hand and all of a sudden she started screaming about works of the devil. Hmm . . .. So I can't write with my left heand, even though I've tried to teach myself, but when I learned to snowboard I chose "goofy" (which is essentially lefty) because it felt more comfortable. And in soccer I always played left wing because I had a great left foot. Hmm . . . come to think of it, maybe I'm right-handed and left-footed.
:cheesysanta:
Hiram 12-18-2004, 01:13 AM Is "goofy" an official snowboarding term?
WhiteSapphire 12-18-2004, 07:07 AM Is "goofy" an official snowboarding term?
Yes it is. You can ride "goofy" (right foot in front) or "regular" (left foot in front). I think half the reason that I chose goofy was that it made me laugh whenever I thought of it. :D
mustang_sally 12-18-2004, 11:19 AM i am very left handed. my right hand is just plain slow. i can't drive a 5 speed. i hate scissors. the only thing i do right handed is swing a baseball bat, because my tee-ball coaches were both right handed.
Notable Lefties.
http://www.indiana.edu/~primate/left.html
The Partyman 12-18-2004, 11:35 PM I'm right handed, though usually shake hands with my laeft (coz often holding things in my right hand!)
ennui 12-19-2004, 12:56 AM I'm right handed, but I have no ability to tell my left from right unless I'm doing something with my hands. If I need to know, I hold an invisible pencil and pretend to write.
surreality_fan 12-19-2004, 01:55 AM OK I posted eat and write left, right others. But in all honest I am ambidexterous. When I was little I would switch hands writing all the time (my kindergarden teacher said it depended on which kid I was talking to. If it ws the kid on my right I would write with my left hand and vice-versa, so I could look at them. -lol). Ironically enough, I switched to Catholic school in second grade and they got a big kick out of having a student that could write with their left hand (I think they just wanted to justify buying left handed desks). So I learned cursive with my left hand. Overall I think that my right arm may be a little stronger, but my left had has more acute fine motor skill development. I can write legibally with my right hand but it is slower. I write better on chalk boards with my right hand though.
Incidentally, I am a bit dyslexic. I have no real concept of left from right and I confuse the two all the time (I give horrible directions). I also have horrible spelling and I have some trouble reading aloud if I don't have time to decipher the text. I can get the meaning of new words, but I can not say them aloud/sound them out, because I can't figure out which letter goes where in the pronunciation. I have developed a fun little talent from this however, and I can read and write (cursive and print) backwards. Real fun to write letters or notes backwards, and then have people find ways to read them. LOL
A therapist when I discribed this to him called me "adaptable." LOL
Hiram 12-20-2004, 02:19 AM Surr: adaptable is good! I remember years ago seeing a guy on T.V.
who was there because he could instantly write backwards on a chalkboard
the words that someone was saying to him. I'm ambidextrous too, and I
thought that was the coolest thing. You could be suomaf! I could be your agent!
Also, thank God for spell-check! :lol2:
Starlet 12-20-2004, 04:08 AM I'm completely a righty! However, I play violin, so I must be able to do *some* things with my left. Still, there are some times when I feel my entire left side is "slow," especially when I tap dance. It just has a mind of its own. Er, kind of.
Medusa 12-20-2004, 06:43 PM I can only write (legibly) with my right hand, but I can type with both. :-X
LostWord 12-20-2004, 09:33 PM Lefties Rule!
We deserve better treatment. Scissors which aren't rusted because they've been used for the past 50 years, manual can openers we can use, ink that doesn't stick to our hands because we need to write over top of what we've already written and so on and so forth.
The Revolution is coming!
;D
WhiteSapphire 12-21-2004, 08:45 AM Wasn't there a Simpsons episode about Ned Flanders and a store for lefties?
krz4dom 12-21-2004, 10:16 AM man i should have read all the way through! cause technicallly i am right handed but i do some things that ppl cant with their other hand...like i can fasten my watch with my left easier and i drink with my left hand (i think this is because my right always has a mouse in it ;) )
but i guess ill stick with my first answer :) rightie!
Ophelia 12-21-2004, 10:19 AM my left hand is like dead weight to me...i always use my right hand for everything...well, i can type with my left hand but uh, yeah...thats not special, is it? hee hee
krz4dom 12-21-2004, 10:26 AM haha, sure its special!! its better than being dead weight! :)
I'm ambi too. I generally write right handed, but switch my mouse back and forth depending on which wrist is hurting at the time lol. My left hand is better for computer graphics work tho.
Does/did anyone that writes with both hands have trouble with stuttering? I did for a short period of time. There was a study done on ppl who were forced to switch dominant hands and they ended up stuttering.
Hiram 12-21-2004, 01:18 PM So far the data is showing only 64.7% Right-Handedness among our fellow posting fuseleers.
That is an unusual piece of data because the general public is approximately 87% Right-Handed by most strict definitions!
hummmm . . . . .
goloptious 12-28-2004, 09:29 PM I do everything right-handed, but I am a switch-hitter when I play baseball...in fact, sometimes I hit better left-handed.
Robinhood56 12-28-2004, 10:05 PM I'm a strict rightie but I once saw a store that specialized in stuff for lefties.
I loved their slogan
"Other store have things for the right handed. We have everything that's Left" :lol2:
Hiram 12-28-2004, 10:54 PM I saw a store once in Underground Atlanta that had exclusively lefty stuff. It was cool! I forget the name now.
withay 01-01-2005, 08:58 PM I am primarily right handed but have some functional issues with my right side after brain surgery.
xenaekes 01-02-2005, 12:58 AM i am completely and utterly totally left handed, if i try writing right handed i write upside down and backwards
mustang_sally 01-03-2005, 09:06 PM i feel your pain. :-\
withay 01-05-2005, 05:13 AM My college roomate used to get mad at me every year because I would put up the pencil sharpener aimed for a lefthanded person ( with the handle on the left). She'd always holler, " You're right handed, you idiot!"
But I did it every year without thinking. :whistling2:
Faith.In.Fate 01-05-2005, 05:26 AM I write with my right hand.. but eat with my left hand. Sometimes my left hand is better than my right for other things though. Not too sure what that says about me? lol
EllaStarr 01-05-2005, 06:21 AM I'm a total right-handed person. Nothing new about that. :)
Trueogre 01-05-2005, 08:31 AM I'm what is known as a South Paw to my sister.
I'm left-handed, have a left-handed mug and I eat like I'm right-handed. Although when I use a pair of Chopsticks I use my left hand and poke someone's eye out when I eat. It's like lightsaber chopstick fights.
Someone once told me that left handed people were sent to lower grade schools, that's why lefties have bad handwriting.
I was like piss off you ignorant git!
Hiram 01-05-2005, 11:56 PM I think many of us can relate to your story.
Hiram 01-09-2005, 12:55 AM OK this TOPIC is working again. We had some TECH probs but it is back up now!
Merenwen 01-09-2005, 09:07 AM Right but I can play guitar with my left :P Eat with both(left is messier though) :P
DomSag` 01-10-2005, 06:26 PM Mostly lefty handed, or "South Paw" as my family calls it. However! I can only use my mouse right handed and the scissors.
Hiram 01-13-2005, 11:55 PM Do you think the mouse and scissers are two other cases of lefty discrimination, where we had to use them or nothing?
WharffRat 01-17-2005, 10:58 AM I am basically ambideztrous.
My sister, a special ed teacher, says I was a lefty that the school system forced me to write with my right hand.
Who knows.
I can go either way on many tasks with my hands.
L8r,
WharffRat :chris:
1voice 01-17-2005, 11:22 AM I'm a righty but in softball I can bat either way, righty or lefty. It's pretty cool.
SavvyGirl 01-19-2005, 07:07 PM I'm a leftie :P
Nanse 01-19-2005, 07:13 PM Do you think the mouse and scissers are two other cases of lefty discrimination, where we had to use them or nothing?
I think so in a sense. I only use righty or non handed scissors because I have such a loathing for lefty scissors, although I always cut with my left hand irregardless of the handedness of the scissors (any other lefties gotten used to the red indents left over from righty scisors?)
As for the mouse, I use a righty mouse with my left hand (so essentially I have taught myself to use a mouse backwards. I'd use a lefty mouse if I could ever find a decent one, but why would any store actually carry that? Actually I much prefer my iBook with the touch pad. No mouse needed.
But back to the original question, I think lefties are so used to making due and the right handedness of the world that we simply do what we have to do.
Hiram 01-20-2005, 01:27 AM I have heard that the reason for lefties tending to be more intelligent is that they have had to use creative ways to
"survive" in a right handed world. Of course that is also the reason that lefties tend to have a slightly higher
accident rate than righties.
klanie45 01-20-2005, 01:35 AM I do everything with my right hand, except I play pool and do sign language with my left hand.
Hiram 01-20-2005, 01:42 AM Now thats one I haven't heard before.* I mean seen before.* A lefty doing sign language right handed.
I guess that is because deaf people all speak right handed because of the way the language is taught.
It would look all backsward if you did it left handed.
I* think I'll call it a night.* This is my 1500 post and my fingers are starting to get that fixed in a crooked
shape.* Goodnight all! Time for my sleepytime meds . . . oh nurse . . .
This is my 1500 post and my fingers are starting to get that fixed in a crooked shape.*
Hiram Abif, I know what ya mean!! I think I've given myself carpal tunnel or some other dastardly "too much typing" problem!! I'm not even close to 1500 yet....ACK, I'm in trouble!! :lol2:
jkupc 01-23-2005, 05:25 AM I am right handed. Using my left hand to write looks horrible.
JON@H 01-23-2005, 06:46 AM I wouldnt say I was Ambidextrous, Im right handed but I can do many things with my left hand if needed (that I would usually do with my right)
bri_nic23 01-23-2005, 10:41 AM Well I voted right handed on eating and writing, but I am left-eye dominant so that means that I can shoot a gun better left-handed! Crazy huh??? And I can paint my nails easily with either hand!
(And I do enjoy shooting guns btw!!! Ask me about my 21st birthday!)
GrlNmdSpke 01-23-2005, 01:05 PM I write/eat left, but since things are not made for leftes I do most other things with my right.
I cannot cut with left-handed scissors to save my life, I pitch right, bat left, bowl right and left, can opener right, etc. etc. I think most lefties HAVE to be somewhat ambi.
TerryLost 01-23-2005, 07:54 PM Hiram, why do you keep asking for personal info on us? Why do I keep answering?* Are you a secret government spy, gleaning information on us to be used by......Oh, wait, that's the X-Files, not Lost. At least not yet.
I had never paid much attention to this subject until a college pro gave a lecture on it. Then I realized that I do all sorts of things with my left hand (including sweeping). I even throw darts left-handed, but I think I am left eye dominate.
Most of my tasks at work require both hands to do delicate, fine work, often independent of one another.
We had a boss who was left-handed, so we all had to use left-handed scissors.
I taught myself to write left-handed. (Although,I am not as good as with my right.) I also can read upside down, and read/write backwards. (Believe it or not, I often have to write backwards at work.)
I think that most people are more ambidextrous (or left-handed) than we have been led to believe. I have read that the dislike for left-handedness stems from some misguided medieval notion that left-handedness was a sign of the devil.* (That is just so sad to me.)
Okay, I have rambled on quite enough......
GrlNmdSpke 01-23-2005, 08:15 PM Ok Terry, you obviously HAVE to tell us what it is you do!!
Also, I can write backwards so that it's readable in a mirror OR so that it comes out looking like it was written normal. But, that is because I have/had some weird form of dyslexia.
Daphne 01-23-2005, 10:52 PM Well....I write with my left, play tennis with my left hand....but can't play basketball or other sports like handball or volley with my left , or throw darts. I can use the regular scissors without problem with my right, but when I've tried to use left hand scissors there's no way I can use them...I eat with my left, but use the knife with my right...I take the cup with my right...I can use a scalpel and suture with both hands ;D but have severe problems opening doors -usually making a fool of myself trying to turn the handle to the wrong side, or closing bottles instead of opening them ::) When I drive people can feel safe, though! :D
I don't think that's strictly ambidextrous because that implies beign capable of performing tasks with both hands indistinctively....I guess :ermm: I chose 'write/eat with left, others right' although I am ambidextrous to several other things....***is confused***
Hiram 01-27-2005, 11:52 PM So far only about 61.2 percent of the voting posting membership is truley Right-Handed!
That is unusual because the general population is approximately 82 percent true Right-Handed.
Foxglove 01-28-2005, 12:19 AM I'm a major lefty; almost everything I do is with my left hand, but there's others things I do with my right hand. I can't even hold a pen in my right hand, but in school I used to write with my right hand when I was at the chalkboard (until a teacher pointed it out and now I can't do it any more.)
I use the remote control only with my left but the computer mouse with my right. If I'm typing one-handed I can only do it with my right and not my left.
leesha 01-28-2005, 12:39 AM i'm a bothy (it's easier to spell it this way :P) i was born right-handed, but when i was 5 i fell off of a horse and broke my right arm, so i'm actually stronger w/ my left arm than i am w/ my right (discovered that while lifting weights when my spotter pointed out that i was lifting more w/ my left arm than my right) so when i'm lifting heavy things i use my left arm. when i drive, i use my left hand, i can't use my right, it's weird. i alternate between my hands when i'm doing regular things.
GrlNmdSpke 01-28-2005, 11:53 AM Hiram, I'm not directing this at anyone in particular, but there is a general fad to make yourself standout and being ambi is pretty unique. So, maybe some people just didn't want to be in that HUGE 82%?
Then again they say lefties are more creative and artistic, so maybe they are particularly drawn to Lost :)
TerryLost 01-29-2005, 08:09 PM Ok Terry, you obviously HAVE to tell us what it is you do!!
Also, I can write backwards so that it's readable in a mirror OR so that it comes out looking like it was written normal.* But, that is because I have/had some weird form of dyslexia.
Spike, sorry that I took so long to reply. I have a strange job. In brief, I slice very thin sections of stuff and mount them on panes of glass. We turn the cutting wheel with the right hand, so everyone has to use their left hands to hold a fine-tipped paintbrush (mine has about one, trimmed-extra-short hair on it) to "tease" the sections out flat. Most people are right-handed, yet can do this.
Also the panes have correct and incorrect sides. The correct side has a writing surface. If someone (not always me!) puts the section on the wrong side, I flip the pane over and write backwards on it, so it can be read from the "right" side.
I have never been diagnosted with dyslexia or anything, but I wonder. I had a terrible time learning to read. I can't spell for jack. When someone tries to tell me a phone number or how to spell a word out loud, my mind just goes blank. I cannot visualize the information at all.* And my posts would look awful if not for the preview feature. I proofread everything at least 3 times, then still wonder if I make sense.
my brain is confused :P
GrlNmdSpke 01-29-2005, 10:31 PM Sooo, do you prepare slides? And are these would be slides of biological composition? (I'm really asking if you slice up body parts :lol2:)
Anyway, the only thing that I still have any trouble with is sometimes when I see number I transpose them. So, I can continually read 689 as 698 until something in my brain clicks or someone points it out to me. (Or my checkbook doesn't balance right :P)
Anyway, thanks for replying!!
Hiram 02-02-2005, 01:11 AM So far only about 59.3 percent and dropping, of the voting posting membership is truley Right-Handed!
That is with 91 votes cast.
That is unusual because the general population is approximately 82 percent true Right-Handed.
chellekay 02-03-2005, 09:20 PM I did not know that
girlspy15 02-03-2005, 09:49 PM I write dominantly with my right hand but can write w/my left hand as well. It looks like a kindergardners hand writing, but it's legible. I also can write well backwards w/my left (better backwards infact than forwards.) Does that mean I could be dyslexic? I know I can type words backwards sometimes, and invert letters, but it hasn't been a terrible problem. I heard that true dyslexics have trouble reading as well, and I dont have any trouble w/that. My mom and Grandpa were left handed, so maybe it comes from them. It's interesting though, to see the statistics.
Qboots 02-04-2005, 12:25 AM I'm left-handed for writing and eating, right-handed for everything else. Don't even try to give me those left-handed scissors sucka! >:( And I have fairly good hand-writing for a southpaw.
This has nothing to do with left or right-handedness, but it's fun:
While sitting at your desk, make clockwise circles with your right foot. At the same time, draw the number 6 in the air with your right hand. What direction is your foot going now?
Foxglove 02-04-2005, 05:37 AM I'm left-handed for writing and eating, right-handed for everything else. Don't even try to give me those left-handed scissors sucka! >:( And I have fairly good hand-writing for a southpaw.

Still going clockwise - but I have to think about it.* *:lol2:
I've never had lefty-scissors, but I have tried cutting things with my right hand - it just doesn't work for me.* I can't keep a straight line, or if I'm cutting on a curve then I can't keep the cut smooth.* Shoot, I can't even hold the scissors correctly in my right hand.*
Has any other lefty ever have anyone try to force you to write in your right hand?* I remember (many years ago) my Kindergarden teacher getting almost nasty with me - I was put in time out or lost out on a snack because I didn't write with my left hand.* She used to tell me that I was "bad" until my mother heard about it and gave that teacher an earful.
girlspy15 02-04-2005, 10:36 AM Yeah when my mom was in school (she grew up in the 60's) she had this one teacher in elementary school who would hit her across the hands with a ruler when she wrote left handed. When my grandma, her mother heard about that she went to the principle and asked if she could switch teachers. It's terrible that lefties have to face discrimination for what comes naturally to them. Who cares what hand they write with as long as they write.
TerryLost 02-05-2005, 08:02 PM Yes, I have never understood the thing against left-handedness. My poor nephew used to grab for things with his left hand and appeared left handed, but his first teacher insisted that he use his right hand. My brother and his wife talked to the teacher, but she assured them he was right-handed. They let it go. I would have kicked her ***.* >:( So he's a troubled right-hander today.
Hiram
May I suggest that the results may be such because of the way you phrased the question? If you had just asked right or left, I would have answered "right." You included a "write/eat right....left other" and that's me. Maybe if more people asked the question as you have, we would have a wider spectum of answers.
Or maybe Spike is right, and more "lefty/creative" types are drawn to Lost. (Or use the internet. Or answer polls. Or like your name so read your theads. ;D)
Domhobbit 02-05-2005, 08:49 PM Proud LEFTY here!
Except I bat righty because I guess my dad didn't realize my brother + I were lefties + taught us with our right lol..
Foxglove 02-06-2005, 09:42 AM Ouch Girlspy! I'm glad I was never hit - I just had the confusion over why being a lefty was bad. Yeah, TerryLost, that sort of thing gets very confusing when a natural lefty is forced to do things right-handed. The whole lefty discrimination is left over from the superstition that the left-hand is sinister and associated with the devil. I can see that back in the Dark Ages, but not in the 60s/70s. I really hope that teachers don't pull that sort of nonsense nowadays.
TerryLost 02-06-2005, 11:55 PM *I can see that back in the Dark Ages, but not in the 60s/70s.* I really hope that teachers don't pull that sort of nonsense nowadays.
Well, that happened to my nephew in the 1990s.
"so sad" (shakes head)
anmawin 02-07-2005, 04:07 PM I can write with both hands. On a chalkboard- right. On a desk- left. Most desks are right-handed so I am usually uncomfortable when trying to take notes and such. I can write with the right, not as neat and certainly not as fast. My right is actually stronger than my left for sports and other large movements. My left I actually use for more drawing and writing- I suppose for small movement?
anmawin 02-07-2005, 04:11 PM Daphne: I suppose I am a lot like you! Someone also said they could write backwards. Boredom caused me to try it, and it is really easy! How neat that someone else can do that. haha
NatillaTheHun 02-08-2005, 12:30 AM I can't write right-handed or cut left-handed, but do everything else with both hands. After brain-washing me into the righty world, they figured out I wrote left-handed then tried to make me use lefty scissors and baseball gloves. Now I'm just all messed up.
reallylikesj 02-08-2005, 12:51 AM I'm mainly right-handed, but do a lot things the left-handed way. I'm not sure if it is because I'm ambi, or if it is because my dad is a lefty and I watched him do stuff.
People give me funny looks when I read a magazine or flip through a book. Apparently, I do it backwards. I cannot do it the "right" way at all. I usually wave with my and do things like turn on faucets etc, with my left hand, and I don't feel entirely weak on that side at all like others have expressed about their opposite side. *shrug*
A early childhood ed teacher told me that one of the only ways to tell what hand a child will favor is to roll a ball at them, and watch them pick it up. If you hand it to them or set it down in front of them, they overthink it or something and will copy the adult.
kermeeet 02-25-2005, 05:24 PM Primarily right handed, although do eat many times left handed
does it count if I can handwrite backwards? :lol2:
AlphonseCapone 02-25-2005, 08:49 PM I tend to Write and draw with my left hand. But everything else with my right.
That does however make me a lefty. :)
Ophelia 02-25-2005, 09:52 PM Do you ever forget which hand you write with? I do. And I am not an ambi either!
AlphonseCapone 02-25-2005, 09:55 PM Do you ever forget which hand you write with? I do. And I am not an ambi either!
To me is a wee bit different... I tend to have problems with left and right... might be because some people say "the hand you write with" Thus meaning I should turn right. However I often end up turning wrong... pun intended...
CapnHuFlungDu 02-25-2005, 10:01 PM I'm mostly right handed but I type with my left hand usually. Mostly because I am eating when I am on the net because it is breaktime for me. But I can change the channels with my left hand and water the plants and open doors and load the dishwasher, that's usually with both hands, and I can hold the phone to my ear and..........
Gravity 02-25-2005, 10:32 PM I'm a righty. I don't do too much with my left hand actually, I need to work on using the left more.
Hiram 02-26-2005, 06:35 AM Actually, AlphonseCapone I tend to function much the same as you. I write, eat shoot, can bowl lefty,
can shoot better and bowl better righty. Threw and bat righty and pretty much evrything else.
CapnHuFlungDu as I would have expected, you are jus confused.
Opelia your another of CHFD's partner's in crime.

Mallek 02-26-2005, 03:53 PM I am Vishnu fear my many hands :lol2:
Heidi 02-26-2005, 04:14 PM Except for answering the phone and holding my purse with my left hand, I'm VERY right-handed. Curiously, both of my parents are left-handed.
When my mother was a little girl going to school in the 1930s, she attended a Catholic school. The nuns freaked out when they saw she was left-handed; they said that she was touched by the devil and immediately set about making her right-handed. Although my mother does most things with her left hand, she can only write with her right hand. My father went to public school so this didn't happen to him; he remained totally left-handed.
Hiram 02-26-2005, 06:42 PM You go [b]Nacho [/b!] We lefties have to stick together or what happened to Heidi's mother could happen to
"The Next Generation"!

Leftys are always outnumbered - does that make us the underdogs? ;D
Mallek 02-28-2005, 02:37 AM Leftys are always outnumbered - does that make us the underdogs?* * ;D
quite the oposite coz a right handed person will never see your first punch coming :lol2:
Hiram 02-28-2005, 06:12 AM Or your left inside to ouside kick, or any good kick for that matter!

Hiram 04-15-2005, 12:45 AM Nanse,
You need no encouragement, only a nudge, nay a reminder of the injustices this Right-Handed world has rought
upon the Left-Handed!
uk_girl 04-15-2005, 01:55 AM I am left handed, but I eat right handed, iron right handed, carry my bag with my right hand and put the phone to my right ear. I use a right handed mouse with my left hand. As someone else mentioned, you have to teach yourself to use it backwards :lol2:
When I first started school I used to write backwards beginning from the right hand side of the page, in perfect mirror writing. It took my teachers a while to knock that one out of me, but now I write left handed in a right handed style, which basically means I don't curl my hand up and round the pen like every other left hander I know, so my writing is very neat, however that does cause wrist strain for me as it is an unnatural position for my left hand to be writing in.
I try to avoid writing anything by hand as I type both handed and it's a damn sight easier for me just to type things than write things by hand as there is no wrist strain.
I can write with both hands, but the writing is pretty messy with my right hand, still legible but messy.
I hate that nasty red indent you get with right handed scissors, it hurts >:(
I also buy either plain coffee mugs or ones with an all round pattern
canuck19girl 04-15-2005, 02:16 PM I write and eat right handed, but I draw both right and left.
CharlieLuv 04-15-2005, 02:42 PM I'm a lefty and proud of it! :lol2:
bri_nic23 04-17-2005, 10:08 AM Last time I checked, I was still right handed! Is anyone else right handed but left eye dominant? I am and it is really strange! I have to shoot guns left handed....crazy!
LostCSIFan 04-17-2005, 02:17 PM I'm Right Handed
bri_nic23 04-18-2005, 08:20 AM Seems like righties are the majority!
Hiram 04-18-2005, 09:28 AM Remember, it's not size that matters!* Besides, we Lefties do it Right!
pug3323 04-18-2005, 09:37 AM Im a rightie...

bri_nic23 04-18-2005, 11:41 AM Size doesn't matter? I didn't know that...
Hiram 04-18-2005, 12:46 PM "Hush, hush, keep that down now, voices carry!"
bri_nic23 04-18-2005, 01:07 PM What? *echoes*

pencilpusher 05-06-2005, 06:36 AM write/eat right handed, but play golf and bat left handed ... no idea why, actually ...
bri_nic23 05-06-2005, 12:49 PM ^ It's because you are left eye dominant!
God's tom 05-30-2005, 04:01 AM Definately a rightie! :D
LostEnchantment 05-31-2005, 12:28 AM Ambidextrous but I use right most of the time.
WhtTornado 06-05-2005, 11:58 PM Right handed all the way
WhiteSapphire 06-06-2005, 09:07 PM I try to teach my left hand to do things, but it's just inept. :(
grapeseed 06-06-2005, 09:13 PM I am right handed. But lately I've been trying to teach myself to write with my left hand as well. I have no idea why.
bri_nic23 06-07-2005, 08:15 AM That's wonderful question mark! I try to teach myself that too, I think I do okay at it!
Hiram 06-18-2005, 01:15 AM [Quote White Sapphire}

Yes, it is me, if a bit out of focus. ;)
Charlie-Survivor 08-06-2005, 03:37 AM I'm a righty
Cranky Old Elf 08-06-2005, 08:39 PM I don't know my left from my right anyway, never did. I just use whichever hand is most convenient at the time.
I did try to learn to play golf once, but it drove everyone crazy that I drive right-handed and putt left-handed. Or maybe it was the other way around...
CharliesHoodie 08-19-2005, 11:53 AM I'm a right-hand. It's pretty much impossible for me to write with my left. It's like a disability.
