Are we to believe that those who entered the tunnel system (or whatever that was) were killed immediately, and "replicants" (maybe smokey) were dispatched in their guise? Were the team-members that Rousseau killed not the actual people, but doppelgangers a la Fake-Locke?

That what I think - because Smokey doesn't go into the bodies - he creates an new one - (Locke, Yemi, Alex, etc).

A weirder question to ask is how was Montand's body there for 19 years without being removed by the others?

I'm glad you mentioned this because by rights there should have been more bodies there if Smokey had assumed the identities of Rousseau's team in the same way he assumed Locke's. Which should also mean that the bodies of Christian Shephard and Yemi are stashed around somewhere also. If the method is always the same, the bodies of Rousseau's team should be down there too. I only saw the body of Montand, but I forgot to look for more.

Problem: we just saw that Smokey in human form is not vulnerable to bullets

Would the armless body be that of Dr. Haliwax (Miles' dad)? In one of the orientation videos, he is seen with only one working arm. My facts my be a little fuzzy since I have not watched those episodes in a long time, but I do remember that his one arm was a big topic for a while. Could this be the "Incident"?

Wasn't there only one skeleton. I'm assuming this is Montand and he's down there because Smokie acutally ripped his arm off. Smokie also killed Nadine by tossing her around. However, I think Jin saw the bodies of the other two members when he flashed back to the beach as well as seeing Danielle shoot Robert. So I think that they were in their own bodies when Rousseau killed them, just like she said. Soooo....they were possesed? Have we seen anything like that yet? Maybe the sickness is actually something else we haven't seen yet.

It cannot be Halliwax, we saw his arm get crushed during the incident in the finale last year. It was Montand we saw down there. I think Smoky may not have replicated the bodies of the french team, but like someone said above, the french team was possesed. Fake Locke totally dodged the bullet from Illiana's crew in the foot statue so if smoky was immitating the fench team he would have dodged rousseau's bullets.

Didn't Rousseau say her team became sick? Is it possible that Smokey can inflict some sort of sickness that causes some to go crazy?
