At the beginning of the episode, she doesn't seem to have an accent. Then later on, with the Charlie situation, she does...what's up with that?

View Full Version : Cindy's accent BuffyMars 02-04-2010, 04:00 PM At the beginning of the episode, she doesn't seem to have an accent. Then later on, with the Charlie situation, she does...what's up with that? beema 02-04-2010, 08:34 PM Maybe this lends credence to the theory that she has ALWAYS been an Other, and was planted as a stewardess. Maybe she faked the accent until she rejoined the Others. MaggieRyanJr 02-04-2010, 08:38 PM I didn't notice a difference. Sorry texgeekboy 02-04-2010, 08:41 PM I don't think she would have put herself on the plane knowing it would crash over the island. It would be just a crap shoot if she would live or die. So no, I don't buy into the theory she was a planted Other. Still, I have no explanation for the accent. Kell 02-04-2010, 09:25 PM I guess I have to ask whether you think Bad Twin is canon? Ambergris 02-04-2010, 10:04 PM I was wondering about her accent as well. I'm not a native english speaker but it sounded english to me when she spoke at the temple. Either she always was an Other (Charles Widmore and Eloise Hawking are english, too - descendants of the Black Rock people, I guess) or she hid her accent for professional reasons. beema 02-05-2010, 01:38 AM I guess I have to ask whether you think Bad Twin is canon? You mean in the sense that she was on the plane because she was Gary Troup's girlfriend? abbybaby 02-05-2010, 09:41 AM At the beginning of the episode, she doesn't seem to have an accent. Then later on, with the Charlie situation, she does...what's up with that? I recently saw her in a carpet cleaner comercial with an American accent, and Kimbery Joseph (Cindy) is Canadian. So maybe the actress just accedently slipped out of her Aussie accent? At first I thought this may be intentional too, but there are times on the plane when she has the accent then times she doesn't. I think she may have unintentionally gotten her accents confusused. kitdavis 02-05-2010, 09:47 AM On the island, she'd been with the others for three years, and presumably picked up an American accent from those around her. Rather than being a sunspot, it appears to be a masterful directorial choice! EricNinden 02-05-2010, 10:25 AM Still sounded Australian to me. chicagorick 02-05-2010, 12:17 PM -My carpet stains finally came out with "Magic Temple Water!" momo 02-14-2010, 10:13 PM Kimberley Joseph is Australian, at least, she grew up here. She was on some crappy afternoon soap here (in Australia) in the 90's and then she hosted our version of Gladiators. I'll rewatch the accent bit, but I think a lot of non-Australians just have trouble recognising genuine Australian accents. 100% Yep, just rewatched it, and that's what we Australians sound like. We're not all twangy like Crocodile Dundee. Her accent is normal, in both scenes. reebty 02-18-2010, 01:55 AM She's lived everywhere, so her natural accent might be a weird mish-mash. However, I doubt spending the first three years of her life in Canada would figure into it. |
